I love top lists. I hate top ten lists. What's the difference? Well, for some reason, most gaming websites decide the number 10 is a special number, so if there are only 6 things that should be on a list, they force four more into it. And if there are 13 worth mentioning, they cut out 3. And they feel so obliged to make these lists that they often make unneccessary ones. I saw a 'top ten sexy game character costumes that should never exist' list on ign. They had girls dressed in Bikinis and stuff themed after Kirby, Yoshi, DK, Masterchief.....can't remember the rest. why bother?
There are lists that are funny or informative, but the majority of those with '10' in their title are a waste of time. And one usually doesn't realise how useless they are until you read the article. IGN(I'm not insulting them, just that I use IGN & VGC for my gaming info 90% of the time) has a 'top 10 most anticipated 3DS games' list. I would really have preffered a "List of all 3DS games at launch"(which I think they have, or maybe it was on VGC I saw this) or "List of 3DS games that will probably be good" or just "Most anticipated 3DS games" without the limit of 10. I'm not saying they should put like forty something games there, but I think I'll get more information from a list that shows all the hottest games based on previews without a limit to how many the list shows. As long as it's hot, it's on the list.
