Forums - Sony - GT5 In 3D!

Heya guys,

So I went to the options and put my 40inch LED 3D full hd TV on 3D. Made sure the strength was on 10 (max) and went to the Special Stage Route 7 with rain on weather driving the Zonda. Guys, I came all over the place LOL.

At first I could still see the two blue driving lines (yes im a rookie and I use it XD) along with some black bolts at the lamps which made me go what the fuck...) but after a solid 10-15 minutes of looking, it just.. vanished and dayum. When switching view to the most narrow, you could see the wind wipers in 3D, as they cleaned the screen and removed the rain and the rain coming back in. At the loading screen, the rain was a bit "outside" and the whole thing was insane. The game felt even better looking and far more in-depth. The feel of speed and when you steered and lost control, spinning, made you just scream SHIEEET.

By far one of the coolest experiences I have played. Might help making the room entirely dark and sitting with mates commentating on how cool it is XD. This was legen... wait for it .....

DARY!

Try it if you got a 3DTV! <3

Thanks for sharing. I will try it when I get the bloody game. Its still in the post. I think that K3 will be much better in 3d because thre will be a lot of stuff popping out of the tv. Even now in the beta you can see which parts of the jetpack will be outside the tv in the full game. I read somewhere that it is supposed to deliver constant euphoria. Most of the games in 3d  (black ops or POP Trilogy 3D) only make you feel like things in the distance are physically far away which is great but i want more than that.

I agree, I set up a make shift table for my new gaming wheel, used books to keep the pedals from sliding, sat about 4 feet away from my 50" plasma on a folding chair and played for a few hours, in 3d. Fricking awesome. People who knock 3d don't have a fricking clue. Sure the glasses are a pain, but I have a hard time taking them off. Another excellent 3d game is Motorstorm Rift 3d, only $10 on PSN, wild and crazy.

How much was your 3D TV?

$1800 at best buy for a panasonic 50" 3d plasma vt20, with 2 3d blu-rays, a 3d blu-ray player (which I sold), and 3 pairs of 3d glasses. It looks like i'll be getting Avatar3d blu-ray free also with a mail in offer for past buyers, it will be included in their newer bundles in December exclusively for panasonic's at best buy. The glasses are heavy but work well, and I just figured out that if I clamp them under a baseball cap or a visor there would be no weight on my nose (which hurts after a few hours). Why didn't they make visors in the first place?

@Ldn

I agree ENTIRELY. I even tried the KZ3 beta in 3D and man.. the blood is kinda "out" already, when you reload the weapon (the M68 green holographic assault rifle) it gets titled up to your left oh and the snow! I kinda got a clue of HOW itll be and damn, I think its gonna be better than anything.

@Mr Metra
About 2000€

I was very underwhelmed by the 3D effect.  Graphics take a huge hit, and I mean huge.  And the effect is so small that it is hardly noticeable.  Very underwhelming if you ask me.

Its sort of what I said above. If the 3D was added late in the development (GT5 case) the the effect might not be great.It only adds extra depth. This depth however can be adjusted and make the experience more immersive.I guess that you experienced just a bit of the game and havent seen the best of it. I'll post my thoughts when i get the game.

The 3D tv was my best purchase this year and i also recently bought a 3D camera to go all 3d - games. films and pictures. Imagine how neat pyramids look like in a 3d picture.

It may also be that you are upset about the kinect trolling and decided to put something negative in this PS3D thread. Do what I do, just stay away from troll threads. Its a waste of time.

edit: typo

i didnt yet play the game in 3d, i have no idea how to activate that, but im excited. go karts are amzing!

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

No no, don't worry, It was a legitimate impression.  I played the game in 3D at E3, same with Killzone 3.  And while they are great games in their own right, the 3D effect just wasn't pronounced enough to be very noticeable or helpful to me in either game and the graphics fidelity hit just wasn't worth it in my opinion.  When consoles can support full 1080p 3D 60 to 120fps with excellent graphics then it may be worth it.
