Forums - Sales - Anecdotal thoughts on Black Friday and weekend

So we went out today and did some shopping in Little Rock Arkansas.

First thought is if MS doesnt win this week it is thier own fault.   We stopped at Target, Walmart, ToysRUs, Sams Club, and Best Buy.  You could easily find PS3 (with or without Move) Wii (Black, White and Red bundles) at all stores.  Xbox 360s were much harder to find.

BestBuy had about 1 Reach Bundle and 6 of the special Black Friday bundles left.

Target had a few Reach Bundles and believe it or not a few Kinect Sensors in back and when the Manager heard this he ordered the clerk to go get them and put them in the cage by the registers. They had been telling everyone they were sold out.

Walmart had nothing and Sams Club had a few 4GB non Kinect 360s. ToysRUs had nothing.

So the question is did MS just not get the stock out as well as Sony and Nintendo or did they sell like crazy.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Around the Network

Have not went out yet, but i checked bestbuy.com. It seems that all 9 wii bundles that they have are sold out. Checked 360 and just one was sold out, i think it was the lego bundle. Hopefully we hear more from some other people.

I didn't go Black Friday shopping but I just checked online at many different places and...

360 is sold out at about 90% of the stores

Wii is sold out at about 50% of the stores

PS3 is sold out at about 5% of the stores.

Looks like the 360 is either selling very well are it was under shipped...

Wii either sold out at many areas or was under shipped...

PS3 was either over shipped by a lot or failed to sell at 360 and Wii levels.

Who knows though?

I posted this in another thread, but it makes more sense here.

Today, I was doing some Black Friday shopping and in all the hustle and bustle I noticed the following things:

GAMES!!!!!

Just Dance 2....is fun...very fun. Dammit I said it. Get that game into your home and bring some girls along? Epitome of party fun; I wanna buy it. We all should.

Donkey Kong...is hard but not impossible. Good looking game.

DJ Hero 2 gets people interested; definitely popular.

SALES!!!!!

Four people bought 2 Wiis each. One guy had a Red Wii & Black Wii. Everyone else just bought two of the Red Editions. While at this Best Buy & Walmart, I did not see any 360s or PS3s sold. People were too preoccupied with all the other devices and TVs to focus on the Kinect and PS Move displays. TBH they required too much space to use during such a busy ass time.I saw a few toddlers look at Move though, if that's anything.

Everyone looked at Wii software...but not many people bought anything. 360 got a few nods; PS3 got relatively none. Software is too expensive for every console lol Bargain bin Wii titles were there in droves...but I doubt many people bought any. Too much to choose from.

All the consoles were in plentiful supply (at BB and Wal-Mart).

I ended my shopping with a new phone, a VAIO laptop, and...some bitchin clothes.

I did go out to the midnight thing for Gamestop locally.  I was in the store less than 1/2 hour.  I saw someone buying the Kinect 4GB bundle there.  Outside of that, not a lot braving the elements.  Local Walmart set up the world's worse stalling line set up that must of ran at least 150 yards to have people go 10 feet.  Even while no line, they were forcing people to navigate it.  I set Fugget that and left.  I figured might as well try to pick up some groceries while out.
