Forums - Sony - IGN calls GT5 the 2nd biggest disappointment of the year

i find it funny people saying halo reach was a disappointment i bet you 1 million dollars that they say halo should be there because GT5 was there. I mean dang i saw fable 3 and crackdown 2 both on there and Kinect.  in my opinion Move and Kinect shouldn't have even been on that list i think they just threw those items in there. There excuses for both of them was they lacked high profile games. what do you expect from those things.  that just came out especially kinect what barely two weeks i mean come on man. IGN is officially the dumbest group of reviewers on the planet and make the most useless articles about games that are good but try and bash them by saying they were disappointing. Pretty Contradictory if you ask me.

THEY GAVE FF XIII 8.9...

Ok now I really hate IGN.

"They" didn't give it 8.9. Ryan Clements gave it a 8.9.

And disappointing doesn't mean bad.

I agree IGN's quality fluctuates a lot, but I have the same feeling with most US media (and also Eurogamer!).

No laggy/imprecise bulky Kinect on the top of that list?  An eyetoy-like device requiring far too much space for most people, hailed by a lot of the US gaming press as the second coming of Jesus...

IGN regarding Kinect/Milo E3 2009: "Even so, the potential for this game and how you could ultimately interact with the character is very high, and I'm excited to see where it goes next. "

If Halo 3 was a 9.5/10 (a short repetitive not-really-a-challenge campaign with mediocre technicals, pushing a lot of people to pay extra to play online and pushed fans to advertise Live for Microsoft to their gaming friends to uppen its value) for them I can't imagine Gran Turismo 5 getting anything less than a 11 out of 10! It's simply the best and most impressive racing sim out there, second to none with a big gap in between.

Although I am more of an arcade racer and thus had more anticipation for Motorstorm: Apocalyse, I have to provide credit where due. Gran Turismo 5 as a whole is a true masterpiece achievement, unlikely to be bettered until the release of Gran Turismo 6!

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

Congratulation. You just played into IGNs hands yet again and brought them a bunch of traffic. If a games a disappointment to me I'll speak my mind with friends and on gaming forums. GT5 has definitley not disappointed me. Infact its one of those games were I wake up and I can't wait to play the game. The only other game to have that effect on me this year was GOW3.

Also I agree with them about FF13, Kinect and PS Move. But the only reason I say Move and Kinect is because I don't like motion gaming and I hold a grudge against FF13 for it being so differant and linear to the rest of the series. If FF13 was my first FF game it wouldn't have been a disappointment. That list should be called "The top 10 games IGN hated this year before even playing".

Heck 1 and 2 should also be the disapointments fo the generation. Both games had excessive dev time, huge delays, promissed enormously and failed to deliver on this.

Both are still decent games, but not the master piece that they ought to have been. Heck any talented dev could have made 2-3 great game in that time span...

Good thing there were nice surprises like Uncharted for PS3 owners, otherwise this gen would really have been the end of sony.

@ Hephaetos

IMO Gran Turismo 5 is no Too Human or Alan Wake, it's easy to see where all that love for realistic/completeness car simulation was dedicated to.

What has GT5 promised that it hasn't delivered on? We knew before hand that it wouldn't be able to hold 60fps at all times, Yamuchi himself said it.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Ok list, I would put Metroid Other M on the list. Well, if the game is disappointing, why the hell they gave it 8.9, 8.5? Only if They were expecting a game That score 12. For me, the Move is a great disappointment over the likes of morality.

No Wii on top 10 dissapointments this year. That would be great if I trust IGN a little more.

To have dissapointments you need to have some highly anticipated game. The only possible candidate would be Metroid Other M and maybe IGN liked it.
