But GT5 is (so far) bugless and more attractive than NV save for the overblown framerate drops but yet NV is forgiven more.

Are we now in a frame of mind where we forgive the quality of games as long as they get into your hands as quickly as possible? What happened to the idea of quality gaming?

In their heads it probably made perfect sense to list FFXIII as the most disappointing game of the year while blatantly ignoring the mess that was FFXIV...

well gt5 is great as the review score states, and I am enjoying it, but like others said, sony hyped it as the second coming of christ, and like the quality was going to be unrivaled by any other racing game this gen. Just the fact of how damage is handled in the game is reason enough to be a bit disapointed (specially with that video they showed a while back)

if they didn´t want anyone disapointed they shouldnt have hyped it so much.

I´m not saying the game is bad at all, but that I can understand the disapointment (and yes, the time it took to develop the game was bound to influence the disapointment, it is quite obvious)

edit: I wouldnt put it in the top 10 disapointments of the year though. And I think it is unfair to put it so HIGH when the game has not even been out for a week

What self respecting company doesn't hype their games? Additionally, I would like to point out that people are criticising Sony for NOT hyping up Move games and under selling the controller, so which are they to do? There is no set yard stick for hype now is there?

This list is one of IGNs top 10 disappointments of the year....

1.- YES, for me it's even the dissapoinment of the generation. The metldowns at the E3 2008 were actually more fun than this long, boring piece of narrative with horrible character design and bland enviroments.

thats weird because right now they are #1 on my biggest dissapointment list for not reviewing games like time crisis, the fight and finally gt5 properly, it seems ign likes to swap sides to whatever is popular right now just to get hits, remember when slim kicked butt last year they want all pro ps3 and nothing sony did was wrong, now the x360s has been unleashed they swaped back and all they can do is nit pick and provide false information about games for ps3 coming out

I have yet to play GT5 so I can't really comment.

I do agree the 5-6 years of development and massive hype make it seem like a disappointment, but come on its still amazing. If it had been any other game an 85 would be fantastic. I know you need to hold blockbuster games to a higher standard but is 85 really a fail? Even if it got 90 I'm sure stupid little kids would call it a fail.

I bought GT5 on Wednesday and it is awesome. The HDD file install is a bit tedious, but I love the game otherwise. IGN's 8.0 score of AC:B and then nominating it for a billion awards proves why you can't spell ignorant without IGN
