Is it a big deal that GT5 isn't AAA? Hell YES. It's a shocker. Everyone including myself expected this to be the end all AAAAE game of this generation and since it isn't even close to that expectation(review wise), it is a dissapointment to at least some extent. |
Did everyone really expect that?
There was alota people getting hyped off trailers and touched-up screenshots. Then we started to find out more about the horrors of standard cars. Then people started getting their hands on review copies and more bad news was coming in (alot related to damage).
I'll admit, I was really hyped at one point, but it started to go down abit. My biggest fear was always the sense of speed - if you're not in the cockpit, the game seemed to "feel" much slower. The exterior cams are much too calm and have a stiff/locked feel to them. My hype went way down after finding out that standard cars wouldn't be getting interior views.
When I look back to all the massive hype building up close to the game's release, it starts to become obvious that no one was really using common sense when it came to judging whether the game would be good or not. Still though, there were some surprises though. The whole damage thing, along with some awkward design choices. And like someone else said before......first run on the Top Gear Track in Special Events: Samba Bus race. Nuff said! It's easy to stay disappointed with the game unless you really progress. It really takes a while for things to pick up.
Game is good but honestly, people had unrealistic expectations. Definitely not saying Kaz didn't say some misleading things himself though...
