Forums - Sony - IGN calls GT5 the 2nd biggest disappointment of the year

It dosent matter imo, its clear that this has been a very difficult mission for Polyphony and they will be back with GT6. i mean a lot of the reviews i've read for GT4 say that it was just an update to GT3, but GT6 will clearly be more than and update to GT5. the series will adapt and improve.

the only thing i'm concerned about is whether the sales will be able to recreate past success for the series, for GT5 and the inivitable GT6.

#1 Is my GoTY, so FFXIII you may be their disappointment, but to many others you are the shit!

It's certainly up there among my best games of 2010 as well.  The game had its problems, but it was addictive to me.

I don't care. GT5 is my game of the year :)

Funny, no Fallout: New Vegas there when IGN named it their most anticipated game of 2010 and it turned out to be a pile of crap.

Fallout NV is a great game that launched with bugs, and for my 2 cents, I would have predicted NV's score a LOT quicker than I would have guessed that GT5 was going to end up at 8.6 on metacritic.

New Vegas is a resounding success imho. Just launched with a few bugs.

But GT5 is (so far) bugless and more attractive than NV save for the overblown framerate drops but yet NV is forgiven more.

Are we now in a frame of mind where we forgive the quality of games as long as they get into your hands as quickly as possible? What happened to the idea of quality gaming?

Some IGN reviewers are seriously withouth a doubt the biggest retards ever. They think bigger the hype, better the game, and if the game doesnt live up to its enrmous standards, its a flop and dissapointment (unless,  of course, its a GTA or COD game, those games will NEVER get anything under 8.5)

Heck 1 and 2 should also be the disapointments fo the generation. Both games had excessive dev time, huge delays, promissed enormously and failed to deliver on this.

Both are still decent games, but not the master piece that they ought to have been. Heck any talented dev could have made 2-3 great game in that time span...

Good thing there were nice surprises like Uncharted for PS3 owners, otherwise this gen would really have been the end of sony.

What has GT5 promised that it hasn't delivered on? We knew before hand that it wouldn't be able to hold 60fps at all times, Yamuchi himself said it.

GT is suposed to be graphical perfection as well as authentic driving. The graphical perfection is far from there (screen tearing, fps drops...) and talks about a patch for a game 5 years in the making is laughable. Had it released in 2008 i'd understand... but there, no it's a failure to deliver.

The delays for this game increased what it had to deliver tremendously because the reason was not "we're late", it was "we're perfecting it" or "we could release it at any time".

SO?????? kinect was taunted as the revolution of motion gaming  with SO MUCH HYPE yet its on that list.

I dare you to say it failed to deliver.

I never thought kinnect was a revolution, but I did assume that GT5 would be above par. I believe both move and kinect should not be on the list as they are about the content and so far they don't have much to really test them, they are in the early wii sports phase without being first. MS and Sony did fail to deliver the software though.

BTW where's ALAN WAKE?

Long development time, lot of hype yet "failed" to deliver.......thats disappointing right? according to a certain group of fans/fantatics in this thread.

it is, just not top 10

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

Normally I could understand that IGN's just not being a very good judge but the CREATOR OF THE GAME said to "EXPECT PERFECTION"... The game was far from it.

If thats the case then how come TOO HUMAN with its 10 years of development isn't the best and most polished game ever??

Alan wake? why is that game flawed depite the long ass development time? 540p after  years in development?

Just because it takes something so long to develop doesn't mean it will be perfect no game is, your way of thinking is kind of _______I won't say it just a hint.

Two things.

1. Too Human wasn't in development for 10 years. that's a myth

2. Alan Wake they went from an open world to a linear world. I'm sure they wasted a lot of time with that useless step

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

I fully agree with them.Instead of boasting about 1000 cars monst ofd which are ps2 quality, they could of easily put 500 - 600 premium model ones in the game. You know something is bad when you can't even take a screenshot in photomode  of the "standard" ones.

its been confirmed today that GT5 has a weather system, track editor and go karts! seriously i think this is going to be the best selling in the series even beating GT3 sales of 14 million plus!
