Not wanting to curb peoples enthusiasm but I would suggest that there was not 500,000 people playing online day one. What I would suggest though is that 500,000 instances of people creating profiles for the game happened.

I am pretty sure that they would not of had capacity for 500,000 concurrent users either nor should they of expected it. Black Ops for example is largely purchased only for its only play with many never even playing the single player game and I am sure it had huge day one online numbers.

Maybe it has to do with which region you're in but I didn't need to be online when I set up my profile. My PS3 was completely disconnected when I set it up. I had heard about issues with the online making PS3s freeze up.

ermmmmmmmmmm they where 500k JP, 500k America, and 1mil EU, it was more of an imprudency not to handle more people.

Online IS disgraceful.... I cant get on it.. it is broken.  Thats disgraceful imo.

Maybe you think a whole aspect of a game not currently functioning as acceptable?  Now I am sure they will fix it, but its about time this happened.  If this was COD and online wasnt working there would be fucking hell to pay.

and you are yet another defending something that they havent even experienced.

 

 

 

I'm not defending it. lack of online does suck, but it's not disgraceful. You still get the component that GT was made for. Maybe we have different definitions of disgraceful. GT was never a heavily online franchise and it's only been two day. Now if tomorrow the online still isn't functioning, then yes, it's disgraceful.

Kowen is it affecting your Offline Racing as well? Kaz said because GT5 has both it's online and offline components combined, this current issue is affecting offline racing as well.

it is... you essentially have to disconnect from psn otherwise it constantly tries to grab online data and thus fucks up the PS3, freezing it.  its a power off and on situation.

Well that's balls...

Looks like I'll get it on Sunday or Monday until that patch is released. Ain't getting it yet if I can't play both offline or online and I like to stay logged into PSN all the time.
