Reported for trolling.

That's good. People talk about China and India but forget that Brazil's economy is rocketing upward.

It's currently the world's eighth largest economy.

Yes, it's violent and all that, but with an economy predicted to be top five in the world in the future and a fast growing middle class and a large population, it's most definitely a huge market of the future.

Most of Wii, DS, 360 and PSP here came from external market (illegal or imported).

You said everything (about illegal and imported, all my video games of the current generations are imported). In terms of real numbers, I think the PS3 in Brazil is in third position in the current generation, because of the piracy. In my family the numbers are: 4 Wii, 2 PS3, 2 DS, 2 PS2, 1 PSP. Of course this number don't reflect the reality neither is a sample. But I'm sure the numbers of Wii and Xbox 360 are much higher then the official.

If the illegal and imported numbers count, I think it will close to this:

Wii: 1,5 million (or above)

Xbox 360: 900 k

PS3: 850 k

DS and PSP has lower numbers.

Saudações brasileiras.

Collection: Telejogo Ford-Philco, Dactar, TV Game 2600, Master System (2x), Master System Portable, NES, Dynavision 3, Mega Drive 3 (2x - Tectoy and Show Do Milhao Edition), Genesis 3, Genesis Arcade Motion, MD Play, SNES (2x), Super Famicom, Neo Geo CD, 3DO, Saturn, Playstation, Nintendo 64 (2x), Dreamcast, Playstation 2, Game Cube, Xbox, Zeebo, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 (Kinect Bundle), Wii (2x - White and Red), Game Boy Pocket, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, DS Lite, 3DS, Vita, Wii U, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Around 800 games. Preferred Generation: 16 bits.

Violence is not the problem. I mean, we have more cell phone lines than people around here.

But you won't see people walking with them hanging around either. You can see some on buses, as people said earlier.

Numbers for Brazil (and probably most of LA) are hard to track since it's usually cheaper to buy from outside the country than from official retailers (I don't know, has Wii even been launched here?). from launch up to (I believe) last year you could find stores where Wii was more expensive then PS3, but no matter what console it's always cheaper (and usually much cheaper) to import it or buy on or from Uruguay or Paraguay (even more if you happen to live on the south) or even from someone who did that then from actual retail, same go for games.

Even then, Sony does have a pretty big grip on the minds of people around here and they do seem to try more than the others. It's good to see the interest from the big players, it might go a long way to make prices here more reasonable if only our government is willing to listen.

This also shows exactly why Wii doesn't have chance to pass PS2 in WW lifetime sales. In developing countries difference is massive.

Actually, it doesn't show that at all. It isn't like a console needs to sell well in all territories - according to these numbers, the DS is even lower than the Wii in Brazil. That still won't stop it from flying past PS2's lifetime numbers with ease

edit: Not that I think the Wii will pass the PS2, still unsure at this point. But it's just like the 360 v PS3, the 360 has a shot at holding onto second, even with low JP numbers

Good numbers for Sony...as time goes, as price goes down...these regions will clearly show their importance
