Forums - Sony Discussion - Gran Turismo 5 Reviews: Can They Be Trusted?

milkyjoe said:

Not everyone received it the same day. CVG stated they received the review copy 'over the weekend', but granted that's not much longer for a game with as much content as it has.

With regards to whether the reviews can be trusted, what does it matter? If the people who've been looking forward to this since E3 2006 find it well worth the wait, then what do review scores do to change that?

well done best post so far

this reminds me of the fable 3 thread that said don't trust fable reveiw scores or something like that. did you?

im getting it regardless(legs). i mean really; do we even need reveiw scores anymore? they are starting to conflict/contradict one another in the worst way and convey the wrong message!

wait for vgchartz reveiw then decide! it won't get a 10 and we all know that!

What's with all of these people being so butthurt over GT5 not getting 10's across the board, sheesh.   -_-*

Nintendo Network ID: Cheebee   3DS Code: 2320 - 6113 - 9046

Wondersing just wtf half the reviewers were high on.

IGN lulz.

7.0

Presentation
A cumbersome front-end and minimal, overlong loading screens hinder it, as do a series of other strange design choices.

The design is clean and elegant easy to get around, best of all the GTs.  After doing that big install the load times are much better.  Was any one actually dumb enough to expect no load times at all ?

The presentation is a easy 10, it just works and is easy on the eyes.

Gamespot aren't posting their review until next week because they haven't had enough time to playtest. Good on them. You need more than a few days to reflect on a game as huge as this.

that will be the review to look out for

and if the IGN original come out with one

don't hold your breath. gs had a "now playing" stream this week. the guys playing were just keeping giving out misinformation and look very uninterested. they even compared the standard car with F3 and meh.. the car is not better than Forza 3. also the guy was trying to drift using a 4wd and said he can totally drift in NFS. i was like whaaa...? :/

No reviews can be trusted as they are the opinion of someone else who has different tastes. Also combined with the fact that certain people will give certain games higher scores just because it is a certain franchise or genre. Reviews are also bought as well so, I say NO!

Then it is Sony's fault. They should have given the reviewers more time before the NDA expires and they should have turned on the online so reviewers could have a go at it sooner before the NDA expired. They had no problems in giving people access to many of their other games for a week before.

Tease.

They should have to wait just like everyone else. Just because they do reviews for a living, it doesn't make them special or privelged.

Reviewers have a time pressure. Give them less time, get a lower quality review. If Sony wanted higher quality reviews they would have given these sites more time to make them, if you feel the quality isn't up to standard.

They can always review after it is out.

Yeah they can, however thats unrealistic. Reviews out after the first few days aren't going to be read as much. So therefore all people get to see are the lower quality rushed reviews. This is Sony's game. They make the rules for the playing field and the reviewers just play on it. If the game isn't a good game to watch then most of it is on Sony.
