IM BACK!

Seems like GT5 did deliver in sense of being the best racing sim. It was kinda expected that all the hype and expectations wouldn't be met in a 9-10/10 sense, atleast to me.

PD REALLY got lucky, the reviews could have been FAR worse. Talking mid 70s in meta. It should end at low-middle 80s unless the reviews that are to come are drastically better than the current ones, which I for some reason doubt.

Hopefully PD will get their act together and pull out a GT6 WITHOUT ANY DAMN STANDARD CARS. I mean for instance, GameReactor gave GT5 a 7/10 and in graphics department.. 7 TOO! It was a 7 on all points, gameplay, graphics, replay value, presentation. The standard cars set the presentation on a horrible point, the graphics on a horrible point. If GT5 would have had 300 premium cars and NO standard cars, released in 2008 or 2009, I can honestly think this game would have gotten shitloads of 9s and 10s.

The game looks really fun and good. Cant wait to get the collectors edition with the GT offical logitech wheel today! I hope online will be fun aswell. I expect more from GT6 whenever it arrives.

Now Sony, go announce Uncharted 3 at VGA and give us Mr. G O T Y like the guy in this thread said lmao. This  years GOTY won't be a Sony exclusive. Next most likely will just alike 2008 and 2009.

can't have GOTY EVERY year.  ;)  Gotta give someone else a chance before Sony takes 2011.

Yeah... we'll just settle for graphics every year xD.

2008 - MGS4
2009 - Uncharted 2 ...& Killzone 2
2010 - GoW3
2011 - Uncharted 3? ...& Killzone 3 ........LAST GUARDIAN?! Yeah I dunno XD.

Have a feeling games like Crysis 2 and Rage won't beat Killzone :> just a hunch.

Shit, getting off topic. Back to GT5,

What do you think the meta will end up being?

MGS4 IS BEST GAME THIS GEN!!!!!!! NOT JUST IN GRAPHICS!

_________

GT5 should end up at 85 or 86

OFCOURSE ITS THE BEST GAME EVAAAAR!!!!!!!! but LBP got more awards ;_; bastards. The flawed gamereactor gave LBP a 10/10 but MGS4 8 or 9/10. THAT IS NOT RIGHT! Uncharted 2 was given a 8/10 too! ..second opinion 10/10 but still. Killzone 2 a 10/10! LIKE WTF!

(I love all four games above and I would gladly hand out 10s to every single one of them LOL) But my GOTY 2008 was MGS4 not LBP. My GOTY 2009 was Uncharted 2 not Killzone 2. GR did the exact opposite.

------------------

Imagine if it somehow ended at 92. That would be seriously fked up XD. Won't happen ofcourse but dayum. That would make history. I predict 83 though x(, hope you're right!

Still sounds like a good game, but not quite delivering it considering it was 6 years on the making. I wonder if that's another doing of the japanese developer curse that hit this gen... maybe it's time for Sony to reconsider leaving GT to PD's hands.

EA does better racing games nowadays. Turn 10 does better with one third of the time. Tell me, which was the latest innovation Yamauchi brought into racing? Unlock car damage and cockpit views? He'll always be remembered as the man of the all delay and no deliver now on. Better yet, what the hell Sony's japanese first party delivered this gen so far? Nothing.

Only museums live from the past. Yeah, damn nice PD developed the first GT, how amazing it was... but they can't cut it anymore. Like most japanese developers, they still live in the PS2 era delivering the same old games. A hundred Skylines and Mazdas when most of your userbase is in damn Europe? Five real tracks and bad damage? What the fuck.

This man is right. PD embarassed themselves to be honest. I can't wait for Naughty Dogs, Guerrilla games, Media molecule, Santa monica studio, Sucker punch, Evolution studios, Insomniac games and Zippers next game. Can't say the same for PD. And then there's The last guardian... XD

joystiq

4/5

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/24/gran-turismo-5-review/

Here's the deal: If you're one of those car nuts I mentioned earlier, here's your game. Have fun, we'll see you in a year when you finally leave the house. If you're not in that group -- you like, even love racing games, but care less about tuning and more about the thrill of the race -- GT5 is like walking in on a group of physicists discussing string theory and asking who wants to go toss around a ball for a bit. You're looking to have fun; they're only interested in studying the math behind how it bounces.

Good god the level of nit picking is crazy!!!! 0_0 I enjoy joystiq reviews a lot but good lord, they say the lightning is 'too' good that it makes it look like a car commercial than Rl!!!! I mean wtf kind of a complaint is that?

Oh man this review was golden. So, GT5's biggest let down is that it's simulation is so close to reality that it becomes boring?

I want to say facepalm....but I fear that's not enough.

Your thread was really spot on. Lol

GT5 disappoints due to being “only a racing game”

It looks like just being the perfect driving simulator in the end doesn't make it the best game. Not that I care, I dislike all racing-- or in this case driving simulators-- equally.

Give me Tales of Xillia instead.

EDIT: Fixed "good" to best. GT5 is going to be great, not good-- it already has that.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Posts like this really reflects the mentality of today's gamer.

It doesn't matter that GT5 is the best simulator available and that it's the best at giving us the experience of driving. Nope that doesn't seem to cut it anymore for the western gamer.

Anyway, I hope that you give it a try before doing these kind of claims. Seems to me that you're only reflecting the negatives of the reviews and outlooking the positives.

Current PC Build

CPU - i7 8700K 3.7 GHz (4.7 GHz turbo) 6 cores OC'd to 5.2 GHz with Watercooling (Hydro Series H110i) | MB - Gigabyte Z370 HD3P ATX | Gigabyte GTX 1080ti Gaming OC BLACK 11G (1657 MHz Boost Core / 11010 MHz Memory) | RAM - Corsair DIMM 32GB DDR4, 2400 MHz | PSU - Corsair CX650M (80+ Bronze) 650W | Audio - Asus Essence STX II 7.1 | Monitor - Samsung U28E590D 4K UHD, Freesync, 1 ms, 60 Hz, 28"

Simulators don't necessarily make the most fun gaming experience. I mean if somebody were to make a relistic combat simulator, it wouldn't be all that fun. Lots of tedium and boredom with moments of panic combined with a lot of I'm dead instantly and I don't know how.

Flight simulator comes to mind. They made it a very realistic experience. But it's not that enjoyable unless you're an aviation nut.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

Well one thing we can all be happy about is that this game isnt getting terrible reviews. Its lowest review score was 7/10.
