well, most of the people bashing the game (at GTplanet for example or on french forum) are also very surprised by the 14/20
indeed, most of the peole are happy with GT5 but they agree not is perfect
but putting a 14/20 is VERY shocking, particularly from jeuxvideo.com ....

Well after seeing those images and impressions on PS Forums....I can't help but say there may be some truth to that score...but they are still being harsh!

What bugs me the most is I won't be able to play it for a month and decide for myself!

In the least you can admit that GT5's graphics are inconsistant, we know this from the Premium/Standard division.

If any other next gen game had best graphics ever for the first 2 levels and last gen visuals for the last 8 levels, it wouldn't get a perfect (or high) graphics score either.

That is Gran Turismo 4.
I can almost guarantee, i was playing it yesterday and i was versing the same car on the same map and it looked the exact same as that picture.

Unless they didn't change anything for GT5.

Arghhhh, I've been waiting 5 years for this game. Pre-ordered the GT5 bundle that will arrive tomorrow...only for it to dissapoint.

I'll have to try this for my self because at the moment I'm having a hard time believing those pics.

If this were last week, I might be right there with you but the embargo lifts tomorrow...that means reviewers have been playing it with other reviewers or do you think they play online for an hour starting at whatever time the embargo lifts and then immediately start writing the review so it arrives a few hours after the review?

After playing another hour, I can tell you, no it isn't a joke. You don't really recognize those bad textures and objects while playing, but they are there, and if you look closely enough you'll see them (but it's not as bad as on those pictures though). But then again, it's not like this on all tracks, I've played a few which looked awesome, but some don't impress at all.

That said I could have been a bit early saying that this is the best looking racing game, but I need to play longer to make a final statement. But obviously, there are just too big differences regarding graphics in GT5.

Well, in GT5's defense, like any racing game, remember you're generally travelling really fast so the textures can generally afford to be more low res.

Just like with most any game, if you look for the holes you'll find them.  If you just play the game, you generally don't.

I think people were expecting way too much from a 4 year old GPU and  512 total ram. This game is running 60 fps in 1080p (yes I know is not 16:9 format : 1920X1080). Then there suppose to be a max of 16 cars on the track.

Lol a 14/20 less than 75% and people still think this game is gonna sell 10 million it has no chance.

I saw some of the hour long Gamespot video on it yesterday and they didnt seem that impressed. They said theres only interior views for premium cars, you can only take pictures of premium cars, things had to install twice.

And he said the car had ragged lines and they (as in the graphics) werent all that.

Reviews are gonna probably be as mediocre as GT PSP and sales will disappoint just like GT PSP.

Edit: I looked at the pictures and they actually look pretty poor, im very surprised i saw some pictures where i couldnt tell if it was a game or real, but the ones above are just nothing special in the slightest.
