Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft favorite to buy Rock Band developer Harmonix?

Wait...Microsft buying a company that makes an appealing product? Holy crap, if this actually came true I might have to take by my saying they've lost their very minds. I will partially take back wanting to backhand Greenberg as well.

Is this a ghost thread for anyone else? Really annoying...

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

I think this is going to happen MUCH sooner than we think...but time will tell.

they don't have so many first party

343 Industries: A studio set up to develop future Halo related productions.[6]

BigPark: Kinect Joy Ride.

Firebird Studios: Set up to help push the visual boundaries of all Xbox 360 titles. Also working on an unannounced game.[7]

Good Science Studio: Kinect Adventures[8]

Lionhead Studios: Black & White series, Fable series.

MGS Mobile Gaming: focused on bringing games and entertainment to the Windows Phone 7.

Rare Ltd.: Banjo-Kazooie series, Battletoads series, Conker series, Perfect Dark series, Viva Piñata series, Kinect Sports

Turn 10 Studios: Forza Motorsport series.

Xbox Live Productions: Fable II Pub Games, South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play!

Wingnut Interactive: A studio set up in partnership with Peter Jackson to produce "filmic games".

I say 10 is a good amount for a company that shuts them down.(plus 2 Rare Studios)

Wingnut, Good Science, and Firebird: Two Questions. When were they acquired/created, and what have they been working on all this time? I want some unveils, darnit!

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

im sorry but with rock band being on all three systems taking it and making it for just one takes the sales down 2/3rds. how is this profitable? if activision buys it i can see the integration of rock band and guitar hero and have the better one only. activision isnt as bad as alot think.

They acquired Wingnut in '09 and Joyride was their first game for them. Good Science was formed just recently and Kinect Adventures(?) is their first game. Firebird was founded to improve graphics on MS 1st party games then just recently started developing games

I thought BigPark created Joyride.

Look how far the music genre has gone since they split up. Competition is good for everyone!

Thats not really how that works.  You have to take into account the following.

1. More people will buy it because its exclusive.

2. They only have to pay to develop on 1 system thus cutting costs by quite a large margin.

3. Plus i'm pretty sure Rock Band sells better on the 360 than on any other console.
