Forums - Sales - Kinect VS Move SHIPPED Numbers? MS overshipping?

Went to Walmart to get a spare Move controller and look to see if they had any Kinect sensors on sale to get my Stepdad for Christmas. Zero move controllers. No Nav controllers. No Bundles. No Cameras. On the other hand. 10 Kinect Sensors and 3 360 Kinect Bundles.

Is Sony undershipping Move keeping it in low supply, or is MS overshipping Kinect to make sure it stays in supply? I just through Kinect would be sold out considering it was less than 10 days from launch when I went looking for them.

I went to one other Walmart and a Gamestop to look for Move controllers. Both were sold out, both had Kinect in supply. I was able to pick up a Kinect Sensor and some games, but no Move controllers :(

Retailers probably ordered an extra supply of kinect sensors. I dont think retailers thought Move would be popular so they didn't order much of them.

It's official Sony is kicking Kinects ass yay!

Nowhere did he claim that.  Taking anecdotal evidence as the larger whole is a little laughable, but he's asking a simple question.  Not everything has to be a fanboy war :)

You see why you got so defensive in a previous thread when I was only trying to have a discussion with you...?

thats the reason that move is sold out for atleast 5 weeks straight because stores are to stupid to order more move controllers

First, your experience is not universal. We had friends over to play Kinect and they left intending to buy one. They went to two Walmarts and a Best Buy and were not able to get one, though they were told some would be coming in soon at Best Buy. When I was in Walmart last week they had plenty of all Move components except the stand alone wands, of which I did not see any.

It would seem MS is shipping just about right or a little under shipped, though retailers are a little off with their distribution between online and brick&mortar allotments. The goal is to have a unit for everyone that wants one but not so many that you wasted money producing and storing them. It is also a little tricky right now with the holidays coming you want to build up some stock now in anticipation of demand but again not get caught with too much inventory come January. Considering that they may still be a little under shipping.

Sony and retailers totally underestimated demand for individual move controllers (though starter packs have been plentiful all along) and have probably lost more then a few potential sales due to this. That being said the sales they have lost are for existing customers buying extra controllers, not potential new customers I think so it is less serious then it could be.
