I think it is undeniable that the Kinect is awesome as a gadget, even if the games may not be exactly what many of us want

I don't see why you think it's weak. It essentially is an advanced EyeToy, so there is nothing revolutionary here. Just like the PS Move is an advanced WiiMote so I don't think that should be on there either (even though it isn't).

I don't see why it's weak either. Did not IGN rated the Move higher than the Kinect? It doesn't mean they were correct. Is that suppose to mean Duracell was wrong with their assessment? Not really. Hey, Kowenicki, I use Duracell batteries, and think they are the best. And I respect the article you posted. Learn to be a little bit open-minded to respect those who feel differently than you.
Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.
The fact that Kinect just launched probably helped. Had the iPad just come out im not sure which would have won.
P.S. Microsoft invented camera motion control.
Tease.

No it isn't.
The similarity is that people moved their bodies to make stuff happen on screen. How it accomplishes this and the expericence the user gets is quite different.
Kinect has an RGB camera yes, but the depth sensing, skeletal tracking, motion capture and voice recognition stuff built in to Kinect is stuff that's not even hinted at in Eyetoy.
Just the fact that you can have 2 people in a room talking and Kinect can tell who is talking and filter out all the other sound to record them is very advanced stuff. You need to separate the technology that accomplishes stuff like this from something that just has a microphone.
Oh... again something that only concerns a small part of the population. Can we have the total of voters? Just for the fun. I'll be waiting some more "official" or professional rewards. I'm not saying this because of Kinect's first place - it deserves it (and no it's not an eye toy) because it's really something new - but for the rest of the list.
I mean seriously, Dell Adamo XPS and iPad....

Congratz kinect! All I know is that every single person I have had over has thought it was awesome! They were all suprised by what it could do and how well the voice controls were.
