Ico and SOTC are overrated, Ico less so
Fact

Whenever I read Molyneux statements like this I can't help but interpret that he's is not very content with his current situation.
Does he probably miss the Bullfrog days when some of their games had a cult following similar to Ueda's games today? (3 of Bullfrog's games made it to my all-time Top 50 and I'm certainly not the only fan). Fable is not a bad series, but Molyneux' early games were far more original.

He might yearn for the old days as a pc dev. His game quality has certainly fallen.

I think he's given out that vibe for a while. I get the feeling he was genuinly interested in stuff like Milo & Kate, in perhaps taking some risks, and I never thought I'd see him working on a line of sequels instead of more varied games.
In short, I'm sure he's well paid and pretty cushy, but I think he feels at times the burden of working for a very large corporation that probably dictates the direction he can take more than he'd like.
At least for the moment for example the focus for Kinect is on safe titles like Kinect Sports and Kinectimals rather than anything like Milo & Kate, and MS want strong franchises like Fable rather than some risky new IP that might not deliver.
Understandable, but for all his faults I've always felt Molyneux does cherish originality and trying to come up with something intreguining and new and in many ways the videogame industry, for the big developers and publishers, is all about low risk and repetition of proven IP.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
I guess Peter can't do anything to please some people, they just hate him deeply. I love to know a developer admires the great things that other developers do. If you get stuck in a box thinking none are greater than you, that's a problem.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Can't argue with phoenix. I'm not saying they are bad games, and I'm looking forward to TLG, but they aren't the be all end all a lot of people think they are. They're just above average games.

Hmmm... I have a hard time seeing your side on this matter. For me, Shadows of the colossus is one of the best games ever made. I don't know how anyone could see things differently. Majestic world, awe-inspiring and innovative boss fights, emotional journey, wonderful music, all that rolled into one of the most unique gaming experiences ever... Just don't understand how anyone could call that "just above average." Then again, I'm known to have very strange tastes in gaming...
If anything, I'd expect someone to either A. Love it and want to have Ueda's babies (maybe not that last part...) or B. Hate it and want to downplay it at every opportunity. Yet it seems to have fallen into the middle for you... very strange!
As for Ico, I've never played it so hate away!!!
But you might want to be careful
