Activision Pledges $1 Million Of Black Ops Profits To Army Veterans

Activision has announced that it will pledge a million dollars to helping army veterans and former service members find employment within civilian life.

The donation, taken from the profits of Call of Duty: Black Ops, is being given by Activision to the Call of Duty Endowment – a non-profit, public benefit corporation that seeks to assist other organisation in helping soldiers find work and establish careers after their military service.

In an uncharacteristically nice voice, I can only assume, Bobby Kotick said:

This Veteran’s Day, we should all take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices that the brave men and women of our military are making in service of our country. It is a national tragedy to have these men and women put their lives on the line inAfghanistan and Iraq, only to come home to face another battle of finding a new career.  The Call of Duty Endowment and the organizations it supports are devoted to reducing the rate of unemployment among our recent veterans by helping them find jobs and use the skills they developed protecting our freedom to earn a living.  I am honored that we are able to use the popularity of Call of Duty to bring much needed attention to this serious issue and assist veterans when they return home.

that's nice from activision.. it's better then nothing

Indoctrinating children on one side, helping vets readapt on the other.

Touching, to say the least.

Considering the amount of profit they are going to make its not really a lot, but its still a nice gesture.

Activision donated the same amount last year, after the Modern Warfare 2 launch.

Its an insignificant amount compared to how much they will make

How much does Activision make on the Call of Duty titles?

Whether it is insignificant or not in terms of how much they made,  $1M is still a significant amount of money given to a group that needs it. 

Despite how much I despise Bobby Kotick and Activision,  giving money to charities is never a bad thing, regardless of the amount.   And for once I will applaud Activision for something they have done.

It's just PR. Vets complain about the game, then Activision gives them pennies to keep their mouths shut.

A farce, really.

they will make up that money in..3...2...1 they just made a million!

Nice, but it's less than 1% of what they did on Black Ops day one. Come on, at least 1% wouldn't hurt.

Not that I was hoping for them to do a Bill Gates sized donation anyways.
