Forums - Sales Discussion - Aaron Greenburg "LOL's" at VGChartz KINECT Sales Report on his Twitter!!!

Aaron actually never said the numbers were wrong though. He simply claimed that people should wait for official numbers before making conclusions.

So what he says is kind of right. But then again why would he be laughing at VGC?

What people dont seem to understand here, is that while this site is obviously very popular with users here, this site is considered a joke and laughed at by everybody else and not respected at all by other sites because they all think VGchartz just make up the numbers.

Which to be fair most of the time they do.

"all other sites"?  You've visited the entire internet and they all hate us?  This is a woeful day for VGC-kind. ; ;

Aside from the bad sarcasm, on every game site ive been on VGchartz is considered a joke amongst users.

For example if i went on the IGN vestibule board and posted. "According to Vgchartz Black Ops sold 7 million copies Day 1"

Most replies would consist of "LOL Vgchartz", theres no respect for it anyway from what ive seen except here and even that changes. Sites like Gamespot or IGN would never use Vgchartz as a source because they dont respect Vgchartz word for anything.

The genreal consensus about this site is that, they make up the numbers. This sites been proven wrong several dozen times so theres a reason for their way of thinking.

A website in the business of tracking sales has every right to get called out if it gets sales numbers wrong.

Greenberg has said some stupid things but if you think that vgchartz has better sales data than an exec from Microsoft some of you are more deluded than I thought. He would have no reason to comment what so ever if sales of Kinect where close to or even below what was posted.

I don't see why people are even doubting that vgchartz got the numbers wrong, this site is known for making massive adjustments pretty regularly. Well I guess its the fanboys job to trump up whatever source makes their console of choice look good and bash the source that casts it in a bad light. We see this all the time when NPD figures are released, don't really know why I expected any different.

If Greenberg posted on VGC that he was giving away $50, he would STILL get booed and denounced as evil.  If 360 (or vice versa) is a blue state, this site is definitely a RED one...not south carolina red like N4G, but not too far off...

your opinion.

Look at it this way:

VGC makes educated guesses. They aren't perfect, but they are very good. In fact, so good are they, that they are often more accurate than 90% of other trackers. VGC also does this for a very low cost, hell, a few months ago, they did it FOR FREE. Do you know how much NPD charges for their data, and do you know that they also use guesstimates and that perfect tracking is impossible due to small business?

Lemme put it in a way you might more understand. NPD is a ps3 at launch, and VGC is a wii at launch. Everyone mocks VGC... but really, VGC holds its own against the big boys.

Ehhh my opinion was that everyone mocks VGC....which they really do so its more of a fact.

Ooooohhh…I’m hurt…I'm chuckling and cackling too hard as I type!  BTW, Foxnews of gaming, aka N4G is blasting the story:

http://n4g.com/

Also some other interesting stories like this:

Microsoft: "We've no plans for another Xbox"

and

Octopus: Move will outsell Kinect at Xmas

and

CoD: Black Ops - Best 3D Experience only on PS3, says Treyarch

But nothing about this technical report:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-call-of-duty-black-ops-faceoff

But I can’t figure out why Greenberg reacts as he does to the internet…what a jerk!

It wasn't meant to hurt you. It seriously was illegible. It said like "how do we feel we can comment on aaron greenberg internet was that and then we say kinect is sold LLOLLOLOL."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, N4G has never thought us credible, but the comments on the site seem like they're on our side, amazingly! Everyone shares hate for douches.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And again, seriously I don't know what you're trying to say. Did you just do some drugs? I remember you being somewhat understandable, but I am really having a hard time discerning your posts.

Here's a question for you -

How would Aaron Greenberg know the exact sales numbers, when the only numbers (aside from Shipped) that he has access to is NPD?

I dk, maybe the low launch sales of their biggest flagship titles, that were reviewed pretty well, like Kinectimals, Your Shape, etc.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
