The problem with players like LeBron is their focus on building their own brand at the expense of whatever team they play for. Kobe talks a bit about this here: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-kobebryantchat112310

Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Larry Bird, Shaq, Tim Duncan and on viewed themselves as players on a team with the only barometer for success in championship rings. Conversely, players like LeBron and Allen Iverson place more emphasis on regular season stats to build their brand. A championship ring for LeBron would just be the icing on his cake causing the value of his brand to explode through the roof.

This whole "branding" of individual players is ridiculous. LeBron had a multi-million dollar contract with Nike before playing an NBA game. LeBron has met all the regular season expectations, but has fallen short of NBA Finals expectations. Last time LeBron was in the Finals (2007), Tim Duncan and company blanked his ass 4 games to zip on their way to their third title in 5 years.

Or as Kobe says, "Michael wasn't Michael until he won championships." LeBron won't be a king until he gets a ring.

how about those Spurs? Manu would be a serious MVP threat if he is healthy all year. :)

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

I LOL'd reading this. that would be glorious if Cleveland fans actually did this. I hope they can beat the Heat Thursday, it'd be poetic justice.

I just hope everybody keeps their cool and there isn't an incident.  Most Clevelanders are HUGE sports fans...

If you see the fans of a historically bad franchise, they can be a bit screwy...

and ALL of Cleveland's team's are historically bad.

I don't know what stung worse, Lebron leaving, or when the Browns left and then won the superbowl as the Ravens and suddenly became a good franchise out of nowhere.

Yeah, being a Cubs fan, I know this all too well. I doubt they'll go too crazy (by my standards at least), they seem relatively subdued whenever I watch their games. I think there will be some well deserved boos/laughing, and perhaps a couple of mock chants, but nothing more.

WTH is going on with the Lakers? 3 losses in a row now -_- i know its nothing to worry about but it just sucks that these last 2 losses were to crappy teams.

The fact that you think Memphis and Indiana suck proves how arrogant Lakers' fans can be.

If they would win more i probably wouldnt think they sucked so much. I mean the pacers do have talent like danny granger and mike dunleavy and the grizzlies do have zach randolph, rudy gay and oj mayo but at the end of the season these two teams wont be anything significant.

But going by those standards, at the end of the season what teams will be anything significant besides Boston, Miami, Orlando, Los Angeles, San Antonio and maybe Utah? You can't just name 24 teams in the leage as crappy....

Of course no one expects the Pacers to win a ring, but they're doing pretty fine this season, compared to last they've shown a definite improvement, and they look to qualify to playoffs (as a low seed, but playoffs nonetheless), that's not crappy at all

Love leads the league in rebounds.

Darko leads in blocks.

Wolves lead in Rebounds.

WTF? My pups need to get some wins.

Unfortunately for T-Wolves fans, you have one of the most ridiculous front office men in the league, David Kahn.  As long as he is there it won't matter how good the team should be, it won't amount to wins.  Most of the great NBA organizations have great upper management (See Utah and San Antonio).

I'm really excited to have Al Jefferson as a Jazzman now though!  That's the "Kahn Effect" at work right there.

Our defense is the reason why we lose so many games, not the GM.

Your defense may be suspect, but don't you agree that Kahn sabotages the team by making terrible personnel decisions?

Teams can't always be measured by their record or rosters. Remember a Yao-less Rockets pushing the Lakers? How about a shorthanded Jazz taking down the Nuggets? The Pacers and Grizzlies are both young teams that are improving as they add more depth through the draft and free agency. Roy Hibbert is looking like the leading man for Most Improved Player and has established himself as at least a top 10 center in the league. Rudy Gay is playing with much more heart after taking home the Gold Medal for team USA and Memphis is really rallying around him and Mike Conley. If you're a playoff team you don't suck because you don't need to be a 1 or 2 seed to win a championship.

Yeah i see your point and the Lakers lose yet again thats 4 losses in a row ='(

Celtics win, Lakers lose, great day. Though my heart almost stopped when the Trail Blazers scored those 15 in a row, thankfully Ray saved us.

Tomorrow I'm so rooting for the Cavs....it would be awesome if they win

The Rockets will get Aaron and Yao back in another couple of weeks. They haven't held up well without them but it's good to see them beat the Lakers without 2 of our best 3 players :D.
