Forums - Sales - Black Ops on Xbox Live Hits 3.1 Milions At Same Time!

Is this number wrong? Wouldn't expect 360 to have almost 5X more gamers online than PS3, when the game will probably sell more like 2-1 better on 360... so yeah not sure about these numbers.

I do remember a madden online stat a while back that showed me a greater percent of players online were on 360 than sales would warrant, which kind of amazed me given that Live is pay and PSN is free. If anything it should be the reverse.

Activision has to be sick over these numbers. All that online activity and they dont get a dime, only MS does. That of course is why they are moving to "monetize" online...

Quick check before I go to bed...

There are 3,930,391 people in the entire "Core" Playlists.

There are 45,123 people in the "Barebones" Playlists.

There are 197,409 people in the "Hardcore" Playlists.

There are 193 people in the "Prestige" Playlists...

That brings the total, at 04:24 in the morning in the UK... To a huge...

 4,173,116

Over 4 Million people playing online on the 360 version ALONE... One day after release. Wow.

These numbers could be a bug in the 360 version...if Reach was topped at 900k, and this is over 4m, I just have a hard time believing that. I know COD is more popular than Halo now but 4X? I'm skeptical. Also the PS3 numberrs again sound more reasonable, again why I say bug in only the 360 version.

If it's not, people around here are lowballing, to get 4m online at once it has to have sold at least 2X that much. You'd be looking at at least 8-12m day one just 360 version, which sounds crazy high. Again go to Reach, 3.3 first NPD and 900k online peake. So Black Ops would have to be 12m NPD just 360 only, to match the same ratio, which just doesnt sound reasonable, since the last one "only" did 4.2m.

Fuck that's HHUUUUUGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I'm not suprised because Black Ops is the shit!!!

As far as I know, Reach never topped above 450k. I sort of know this because Bungie tracks how many people are playing Reach at the same time in their website, and that figure never went above 450k (at least when  I checked).

I doubt that Black Ops would have 10 times more people than Reach, I don't know.

I saw it at over 700k IIRC myself, so yeah, you probably just werent looking at the right times. 900k top reported in this thread sounds right to me RE Reach based on what I saw.

But even so as you say BO being so much higher seems fishy.

That Reach players counter you linked has been stuck on 60k players for me for weeks too, no matter when I check. It's clearly broken/bugged now at least for me too..It seemed to work at first. Does it say exactly 60,323 players online for everybody else like me?

Didn't reach have like 2 million people playing the day after realease? I remember something like that as i was a player myelf. Still 2x the numbers of the game that was expected to be the biggest (on Xbox Live) is not bad.

The last week 30% of the threads on Bungie.net were about COD, I would not be surprised if the COD userbase is way bigger than Halo Reach.

4.124.446 Right now... i dont know if i can believe in this number or not...

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Anyway this game is HUGE!

Reach had 700K players on at one time during the first day. I remember because Bungie made a big deal about it (it was a record for them). I Just checked the first weekly update after launch. I'm not sure if this number reflected single player or not but I don't think it did.

Does the 4 million concurrent players figure for BO include single-player as well as multi-player? If it does then this might help explain the huge discrepancy between Reach and BO. Personally I feel like even with single-player this number is way too high. I realize that the BO numbers should be higher but 4 million just sounds ridiculous.

Activision released a statement that over a million people were on live one hour after launch, so these number are likely accurate.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.
