Well, I'm aware of what ads do to the internet, however, if we're going to tell users they can't imbed auto-playing videos, then we also shouldn't have auto-playing ads. Things like this are what made me find an ad blocker for IE. It'll go away when those ads go away...

I don't know what sort of control the higher ups have over ads like this but they should probably do something about it. VGC is already ridiculed, there's no need to add to this perceived shadiness by having ads that make this site feel like it's hosting illegal or fringe material. Drowning users in ads is not the way to give an impression of legitimacy.

Also, what is with the full page ad that comes up when first coming to the site? It's a little sad that I have to click through that just to view the forums. 

A lot of sites with more "legitimacy" do the full-page ad thing. IGN and Gamespot do, at least. Joystiq also used to, until the users pressured them to stop

But yeah, auto-playing ads with sound are a sign of sites lower on the totem pole

I scared the hell out of me at first O_O i had the speakers on Max and suddenly i was greeted by BYE LAS VEGAS NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!! well not literaly that but it was somthing to no woth begas i think....

Yea, the auto playing ads are pretty annoying.  I might have to start running an adblocker on Firefox just to visit this site.  If there are going to be video ads you should have to least click on them to play them.  Having adblocker on increases the speed of this site be x2-4...  The site is perhaps too bogged down with ads which makes is very slow.  I can understand a few adds here or there but when the ads take longer to load than the actual site content then that probably isn't a good thing.
