| CGI-Quality said: People who like it haven't said the list is "unmatchable" or "superior to everything", as matter of fact. Yes, an opinion supported by facts is superior, but how can you claim people who think the list is good/bad are speaking factually? Again, I'm not bothered by objection nor acceptance. I'm bothered by method. If people were coming in and saying the list is "unmatchable", "nothing could top it", I'd disagree and debate that too (as I have before). That's the same as calling it "worthless". Worthless implies, as matter of fact, indisputable - of little to no worth. The list is disputable in either direction. Perhaps you can direct me to a specific post to your take. I'll happily debate it. |
Simply saying you agree to the list IS saying that the opinion is superior to everything though by definition of the type of list. This is not a list of 7 good new IPs. It is the seven best. This means that is you simply say the list is perfect you are implicitly stating that all other lists are inferior. That is the nature of the beast here. There is no way around it. By definition "best" means superior so there can only be one such list that is viewed as accurate by any given person.
You say the list is disputable, but several people have listed very, very good objections that no one has even attempted to address. Let me put one in front of you right now. The best new IPs are inevitably the ones that influence the marketplace, and game development in general the most. As such Wii Sports should have a spot on all such lists. I have stated this twice personally, and seen others say about the same.
Wii Sports has, indisputably , changed the direction of the modern gaming world. So much so that even Sony and Microsoft have chosen follow Nintendo's lead and offer similar games at the launch of their own motion devices. Popularity is also indisputable as it is not only the best sold game this generation (through bundling) but also spawned a sequel that is also one of the best selling games of the generation. The failure of inclusion on the list automatically disqualifies it as being accurate by this point alone. Should you view the entire Wii * series as one franchise it becomes hard to argue it deserves the top spot, although I wouldn't state that as their are clear differences between some of the games.
