Forums - Sales - Tose via famitsu: ps3 outsold 360 by one million 42M vs 41M

If you guys wants to believe this figure provided from Tose, just believe it. But it is obviously that there are a lot of people still believe the numbers provided from Sony and Microsoft.

In North America, XBOX360 outsold PS3 by more than 8million and in Japan PS3 outsold XBOX360 by 4.5million. If this number is true, it means PS3 already outsold XBOX360 by another 4.5million in EMEAA region.

So, show us the evidence about this lead in EMEAA region. I cannot get it from VGC and any website else.

It is not about you want to believe it or you deny to believe it. We just need the evidence to prove PS3 already outsold XBOX360. If there are plenty of sources can prove this, of course everyone including Sony fanboy and MS fanboy will believe this number.

Before the evidence, it is useless to discuss it here. That is why the tread would be locked.

Sony would've made a buzz about it if it was true.

Within 10% of Vgchartz numbers. So the estimates are OK.

I would like to know how they got the numbers though.

No it isn't. That's why this thread isn't locked. But you're such a cutie-pie! Try again!

Notice how sports games in EMEAA always sell a lot more on ps3 than 360?

Also, who's to say it's in EMEAA?

It could be that in North America, there are 3 million units that were replaced by companies like gamestop, etc to people who purchased warranties.

Look, this is how gamestop and others used to do it:

Get shipped 360s
Sell 360 in store warranty.
360 breaks.
Take a 360 off shelf and give it to customer.
Return broken 360 to MS, receive refurbished unit (not a replacement, and not included in shipped numbers)
Sell refubished 360s to new customer.
Profit on the difference between warranty cost and difference between used and new console, improving customer satisfaction and games purchase visits.

End result:
Two shipped units going to one purchase.

well they can't really comment can they?

It's not like the numbers from this are too high to be true.

The difference is we have higher 360 sales than this report shows, so it's not like Sony should know about it.

this is not famitsu numbers,it's tose numbers

and you know, tose just a game development company

but that theory still leaves you with two customers for two shipped units so in theory the install base which is the important number would still be the same as if MS had just replaced the original broken 360.

We aren't an install-base tracking site, we're a sales site.

I agree that two people still get two units, but we don't know how many used 360s gamestop has in warehouses, and we don't know if those consoles still work either.

Saying ours numbers are fine because they track install base with higher accuracy doesn't correspond with what you countered.

Refurbished = / = Used

Also, a refurb sale isn't really much different from a new unit sale.  They're both from the manufacturer to consumer basically.  In your scenario, it's two units, two sales from the manufacturer, two to the installed base... I don't really see the issue?
