Forums - Gaming - Metal Gear Rising In 2012

First revealed in summer 2009, Metal Gear Solid: Rising is an action game starring Metal Gear creator Raiden and set between MGS2 and MGS4. The game was expected to be out in 2011. Those expectations, it seems, are wrong.

Kotaku has been told that Metal Gear Solid: Rising will miss 2011, and will instead hit in 2012. The multiplatform game trades the "Tactical Espionage Action" of the traditional Metal Gear Solid series for "Lighting Bolt Action".

"Raiden" means "thunder and lighting" in Japanese.

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima is involved in the project, but merely as the game's executive producer and not as the title's writer or designer.

Long waits for Metal Gear Solid games are not uncommon. Metal Gear Solid 4 was first shown at the 2005 Tokyo Game Show. It wasn't released until June 2008.

Kotaku is following up with Konami and will update should the company comment.

Hope Konami comments to deny this :/

Gives me more time to finish the rest of the series

i am doing a marathon right now to finish all the MG games all over again , i just finished MGS , MGS2 , MGS3 , MGS4  as well as Ghost Babel , Snake's Revenge and Ac!d 2  (even though they're not cannon) and now playing Portable Ops and Peace Walker along with MG and MG2:SS , Ac!d1

but i am looking forward to this! , and its so fun knowing everything about everything in the series, the storyline is very complex, though i still don't know much about Decoy Octopus and a couple of characters , i wonder if they're going to make a game that explains their story one day.

anyways

2012?  Fuck-a-you, whale and fuck-a-you, dolphin!  I'm still gonna buy it but it pisses me off.  Why announce the game so far in advance if it's no where close to release?  I know Kojima and Konami like to build hype and the games always deliver but what was accomplished by announcing the game at E3 2009?  I want it all and I want it NOW!

Actually I'm not really unhappy with this delay. There are already tons of games coming in 2011, I'll definitely have enough to play. And although I'm a big MGS fan my hype for Rising isn't really big anyway; it simply seems too different compared to previous MGS games.

2012 - Top 3 [so far]

two words:

Publicity Stunt

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

You got to be kidding me!

I'm also glad about this because my pockets are going to be pretty empty next year and because I don't really like Raiden and the games going to be a hack and slash it automaticly goes into the buy when I have the time catagory. Plus I wasn't really impressed with the stuff that was shown off so far. Yeah you can slice a melon into pieces precisley and shit but slicing a van in half is too over exagerated especially when your swords not even half the lenght of the van

So Bioshock Infinite and Metal Gear Rising both hit in 2012 and gamers still think this gen is ending 2012.. lol funny
