I'm tired of hearing about "franchise fatigue".

If they keep putting out good games people will keep buying them.

I can't think of one franchise that dried up because they put out too many. It usually happens because the games suck.

guitar hero saids hello. lol

I think people got tired of playing with those stupid plastic guitars.

Use of real instruments might bring new life to these music games.

Rock Band 3 has a pretty good drum set and a full on guitar mode with hundreds of buttons laid out to make it like playing an actual guitar. It still seems to have sold in a lackluster fashion.

and how do games suck

when you put out multiple games with few advancements

making good games need time, making multiple good games need even more time so it just can't be done in a small time

and so it begins. The only reason none of Blizzard's properties get milked is because Kotick and the other execs can't bully them like with the other dev teams. Not that I cared that much for the CoD franchise, but Acti continues to be the epitome of every bad habit in the gaming industry.

Well lets look at Sonic. The games just started becoming unplayable.

However, I guess some forumlas just get old and become unappealing because of competition. Need for Speed and Tomb Raider are examples of that but still are very popular franchise.

CoD has a great formula and the competition is lacking what people love about CoD.

They do put time into CoD games. You gotta remember they have like two studios working on them. I assume Infinity Ward is working on the 2011 release. Treyarch will probably do the 2012 release.

I think they need to do more:

Call of Duty Kart racing

Call of Duty at Winter Olympics

Call of Duty party

Call of Duty RPG

and then they can also expand into collectible card games or something :D

Don't forget RTS.

Why would that be a bad thing? Think Company of Heroes, but just branded as a CoD game... If they got a good developer it would still be a good game!!!!!

I really don't see what the problem with lots of CoD games is. Just because they are called CoD, doesn't mean that they are the same game. Personally, I will happily play more than one shooter a year (well more like 5...), and why does it matter if they are all called CoD. They are going to be from different studios and so going to be a different take on the style

Guitar Hero (edit: someone beat me to it)

I'm not going to buy the Infinity Ward one, that's for sure. At least not right away (and I'd buy the used copy if I do)

Their games have a habit of being good to start out with but then people find exploits and problems with the game and it never gets patched (ie One Man Army noob tubes). Its a shame really because 1 or 2 patches could have kept people playing MW2 if they just fixed one man army and a couple other things.

And isn't the Sledgehammer game going to be more Action-Adventure then a normal FPS?

It really isn't that big of a deal.  The online one for China is really irrelevent.  So we are really only referring to two different titles next year.  The Infinity Ward one will probably be MW3, which should be a pretty big hit, and will come out early November of next year.  I'm not entirely sure what people will think of this.  Although it will be Infinity Ward, it won't have all the same developers.  I have no clue when they would even try to release the second one by Sledgehammer.  If they release it like early next Summer, it wouldn't be all bad, and here's why.  After 3-4 months of playing, although the game is still fun, you do start to get sick of it a little.  So by doing this, you will have the option to purchase a map pack where you will still be playing the old maps or purchase a whole new game that will give you a new campaign and 100% new maps.

If you combine the sales of these two games, they will probably be quite considerably higher than MW2 and Black Ops.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.
