Seriously back on topic....  I was not planning on getting a Kinect but all of my friends that have it already are raving about it.  It's not that they like the games, its just that the tech itself is so cool that it's just a fun thing to have in the house (instant video chat on your 46 inch HDTV with your friends with a camera that follows you around, pretty sweet).

Cool new Tech....This is why in my opinion kinect will be a massive hit with casual gamers this holiday

It sure as hell wont be the games making people buy it

Fox news is the most trusted news station, so this should provide a good amount of sales too.

Microsoft said 500 million dollars on kinect advertisement. who said this wasnt paid off (advertising). just saying

We need to clarify that this budget seems to be for a whole year, not 2 months after release.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

LOL reading that mans article, he didn't even play the games, the article is just an ad, which so is that video, neither one of those guys were properly playing and wasn't even into the game.

Sorry but that is just ridiculous...

It actually didn't seem like an ad article to me. He did discuss how he did not think the voice controls were great and also mentioned the space issue. When he was playing he looked like he nknew what he was doing to. Was there something specific in there you were talking about?

"Rally Ball is a lot like dodgeball (WRONG), Reflex Ridge is an Indiana Jones-styled obstacle course, and Space Pop forces you to pop bubbles in midair. In 20,000 Leaks, you try to keep fish away from your undersea boat (WRONG, and there is no such thing as an "undersea boat"); in the amazing River Rush, multiple players control a white water raft through wild river rapids."

I can't say much for space pop or river rush since I didn't play them, but even calling Reflex Ridge an Indiana Jones-styled course is a bit of a stretch, it's on rails and you have pads come out to block your path, he's simply trying to associate the game with something popular.

Then right off the bat "Microsoft's brand-new, much-hyped Kinect for Xbox is finally out -- in all of its motion-controlled glory. Forget the Nintendo Wii. Kinect is sure to be the biggest family-fun hit of the holiday season." Yeah totally needed to put in the "Forget the Nintendo Wii" part, the article knows who the top dog is and trying to root for the Kinect, that sets the tone for the entire article.

For the most part the article isn't objective at all (LOL @ me for wanting Fox News to ever be objective) but little things like this " It uses four microphones and three video lenses to locate your body." stood out to me, the guy obviously isn't a tech/gamer guy, he got the info about the hardware from somewhere, sounds like he's just parroting an ad.

As for the negative aspects of the voice commands, he's literally the first I've heard having real issues with that, you have to know which words will work which won't, he said "Kinect Play Kinect adventures" when if you want it to play you just say play.  So on somethings he knows nothing at all and at other times he knows how many mics the hardware has and how many lenses the camera uses... something just seems really off about that.

-EDIT-

I would also like to know how a couple of guys standing there getting smacked by about every obstacle on the track and not even moving from their left most position on the platform counts as being into the game, they stood there talking and just hyping it.

If FoxNews say it ...

Time to Work !

This "500 million in advertising" memo is getting old extremely fast. Sony spent more than 300 million relaunching the ps3 with slim (over 150 million just for Europe) and we weren't reading about it in every thread and we are talking about sony, a company with huge financial problems.
