You can tell he doesn't know what he's talking about because the only game he brings up is GTA.  These people don't know jack about any games except GTA because it gets soooooo much publicity.  I'd like to know why the interviewer didn't bring up the censorship and freedom of speech and how the movie and music industry have the exact same system as the game industry.  Listen to what the guy says, he's basically preaching that the the ESRB should exist, and it does.  Instead of passing a law, encourage more companies to obey the ESRB.  If a law is enacted thousands of people will need to be hired to enforce the law and our court system will have to take on the extra load of cases, it's dumb and a waste of money.

Cool. Just remember, people have talked about this sorta thing before, it never happens. At least, it RARELY hapens...

Also, where did people get the idea that video games (be them violent) create savage killers and the like? Just a general point there

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

You're expressing exactly my thoughts actually.

We have similar situations in Germany from time to time and one thing I always see is people talking about violent videogames although they don't know anything about them.

hes trying to ban the sales of violent games to kids? i thought kids arent able to buy 18 rated games anyways, whenever i tried to buy a 18 rated game when i wasnt old enough i was told that i was too young so i couldnt be sold the game, and occasionally when i do buy certain games i get asked for ID so isnt this whole thing what hes trying to accomplish pointless?? or am i missing something here....

Not all retailer's do this. Instead of making it a voluntary thing,it would probably just make it mandatory and fine retailer's that don't go bye the law. All it's going to do is hold the retailer's accountable. The parents can still buy the game, for there kids. I don't think it's pointless and I happen to agree with this. lol

well i'm sure there are more implications from this then currently seen and thats the fear from all forms of media at this time; thats why this is such a big deal, but if all there doing is putting some back bone on the law then i'm with you, but if there are some unforseen implications or agenda's behind this then fear for your fredom of speech.

wow...it's called parenting you fuck. Politicians are really pissing me off with this shit, I swear they try to blame every child related issue to video games. I remember the president linking video games and fat children, how about blaming the 30 damn mcdonalds within a 10 mile radius? I hate politicians so much.
