Forums - Nintendo - Here we go again: Heavy Rain creator calls Wii a toy and board game

It at least makes sense. He embraces the end of gaming on the complete opposite spectrum of the Wii: as close to movies and as far from the arcades as possible, so it is likely that he would simplify it's appeal thus

You nailed it. Wii represents everything that Heavy Rain is NOT, and vice versa. Wii embraces the fast paced, arcade style games with no cutscenes, dialogue, etc, and pure gameplay, with multiplayer emphasis. Heavy Rain represents cinematic/artistic values in games, epic stories, linear gameplay, single player experience, etc. So it isn't surprising that the creator of a game like Heavy Rain would look at the Wii and what it represents and scratch his head.

This means the PS2 and PSP are toys then as well because the Wii can do everything they can do (yes the Wii can play DVD's). This guy obviously knows nothing about the Wii and is probably trying to get a few cheap digs in to sway gamers away from the Wii.

I on the other hand have never seen consoles as toys.

Sorry dude but your game movie hybrid is not that good.

Whatever floats his boat. As a Wii owner, the console has brought me and my family and friends hours upon hours of smiles and fun, adrenaline rushes and high-fives. There's been moments of joy and moments of frustration. The Wii has provided me an "extremely strong video game experience" (something he forgets to mention when talking about the "funny board game" that is Wii).

*Shrugs* But what can ya do...

Your logic fails my friend. The psp is portable. And the ps2 is 10 years old.

So why are Sony falling over themselves to mimic Wii and catch a slice of Nintendo's pie, then? XD

Well... let me know when Heavy rain hits the 10 Million mark ;)

What significance does Heave Rain selling 10 million have to do with the originial topic?  Trolling as usual I see.

You can get a screen and a battery pack for the Wii to make it portable and the PS2 is still in production.

is every consumer really going to do that? Is that really what nintendo is trying to sell on? No. They are trying to compete with the ps3/360 in the market...not the ps2 and the psp.
