Forums - Nintendo - Here we go again: Heavy Rain creator calls Wii a toy and board game

I heard that his interactive movie (the one mentioned in the title) is actually pretty good. Never tried it myself.

Not sure why he is talking about videogames though. Maybe someone just asked him the question, right?

Incoming 100 post thread filled with "Wii is doomzed" posts and general crying!

I can understand the upset................in hindsight. But when you really sit down and listen to his words, he's just saying the PS3 and Wii are in different leagues, that the PS3 can do things the Wii cannot. Not really untruthful in that regard.

He didn't flat out insult it, or call it "doomed" though.

I agree he didn't call it "doomed"....seriously its hard to take his words to mean "wii is doomed"

But the words he used are quite insulting TBH when referred to a home games system.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

He may have chosen his words poorly, but his point is spot on. The Wii and PS3 are in different leagues when speaking on entertainment. They do many different things and appeal to two totally different types of consumer.

Really not anything many others haven't said before.

wait a second...I thought that was always what was meant by "wii is a toy". That was how I always meant it...and that's what I thought other people meant. Not that it actually is a toy (because they all are).

Oh well,

I'm still very disappointed with wii. I don't even feel that it measures up to many ps2 games. However, it does have its fair share of gems. NSMBWii, galaxy, kirby, fragile, endless ocean, silent hill:SM, LKS,  Rune factory, etc etc etc.

Well, before the PS1 era, that's what game consoles were considered - "toys". Even during the 32-bit gen, they were still considered toys, they just all went more mainstream then.

How is a toy not being mainstream? That's just an illusion from people in a teenage mindset that the two things are mutually exclusive.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Lol the creator of Heavy Rain has NO business criticising the Wii. Heavy Rain is more of an interactive movie than a videogame.

You wanna know what looks like a toy?

That embarrasing Move controller does...

The Wii is a superb toy. It isnt the best Nintendo console, but damn the franchises have never been as good as on the White Lady.

I just love how this mass of "hardcore" gamers/developers/journalists constantly try to undermine the Wii's success by making it seem inferior and inflating their ego, so that they can convince themselves that the games they're playing make them "TEH HARDCOR3Z!" They are so elitist it makes me sick.

Don't get so defensive. It makes it seem like they touched a soft spot.

And your last post of insulting Heavy Rain; which you have presumably never played, because Cage seemingly insulted the Wii is sickening to me.

I didn't insult it, just saying it's more of an interactive movie than a game, which seems to be true. For the record, it actually does look like a  good interactive movie :P
