So I'm curious, when it comes to episodes 4-6, which ones are we rating?
Are we rating the original ones or the remastered ones with the stuff added in because they have very different scores...

Whichever one will result in Episode 3 having a higher average than at least 1 original trilogy movie
________
Well seriously.........the one you saw first.

Obviously, nothing on Hoth or the Death Star Trench, but they're from the original trilogy, all of which are brilliant movies with fantastic writing, engaging plots, brilliant acting, and epic battles (despite being designed with 1970s technology). I'm not saying Geonosis is anywhere near the AT-ATs on Hoth, or Luke destroying the Death Star, or even the final battle on Endor, but it was a good fight scene, and I would put Yoda vs. Dooku as the second best lightsaber battle in the prequels (After, of course, Anakin vs. Obi-Wan). |
That was a battle? More like 30 seconds of them bouncing all over the place before Dooku started throwing stuff off walls. Of all the duels of all 6 movies, it is by far the worst because it's the shortest, and there's little or no tension between the combatants. That's what makes the duel in the original so great for me, and that's not because of the choreography of the fight, but the anger and barbs flying back and forth.
One thing that always got me about Yoda fighting is that I always thought he shouldn't have done the whole bouncing around thing. Know what would have been infinitely cooler? Yoda pulls out his lightsaber, ignites it - and then lets go, and it stays suspended in the air.
Dooku looks at Yoda. Yoda looks at Dooku, smiles wryly, and fights the guy using his mind.
Dooku spends the rest of the fight trying to get at Yoda, who doesn't even bother to attack - he just defends, Dooku unable to get within five feet of him, every turn and thrust being met by a whirling blade of glowing death that is not constrained by the limitation of a hand, or an arm.
That would have been sweet as Hell.
1.5/10
Pros- Anikin gets his hand cut off it made me laugh
Cons- Everything except for that cut...yes it's worth 1.5 alone for seeing him in pain and thinking about him not able to wack off for awhile..
Former something....
I've only watched the prequel trilogy....
Anyway, the first one was horrible imo...I couldn't finish watching it.
This one on the other hand, I remember being pretty good.
6.5/10

This brings up a very good point as they are completely different movies in my eyes.
My scoring for Jedi for example would be 3 points different between the original release and the butchered version.

That would be awesome.
It always kind of got to me that Yoda was one of the most powerful Jedi ever yet Dooku was mysteriously his equal. In your version, Yoda would remain the badass he's suposed to be and we would still get totally geek out over him fighting. It would also keep in line with everything he tells Luke in Empire.
6.5/10
Pros:
Clone battle at the end. I'm just a guy who loves seeing epic large scale gun battles with explosions all round. Same applys to games.
Yoda
Christopher Lee as Count Dooku. Really good fit.
Cons:
Lacking epic music
Far too many uneccessary scenes.
Anakin's love scenes were hilariously bad
Hayden Christensen looked ugly with that gay hair style. Of course that all changed for EP III.
