I think everyone is jumping the gun on whether this sites tracking is off. Remember the sites current numbers are for two weeks. While the article is siting three weeks. A late upsurge in sales would not be unprecedented due to three factors.

Advertising is the first factor while the game is being advertised it is being advertised poorly. The commercials in North America are not entirely spectacular, and they do not convey much in the way of how the game plays. Quite hard for the ignorant masses to get excited over a game when they are not getting solidly sold by the advertising. Which leaves word of mouth as the biggest mover which might take a few weeks to show its strength.

Last month was a hectic month for consumers. Too much goodness arrived at the same time. When your playing Assassins Creed, the Orange Box, Halo 3, or Bioshock your not so motivated to get another new game. Many gamers will exhaust what they are currently playing before going out to purchase another game.

Finally the title might be making it into Christmas shopping dependent on how many shoppers have held off on their shopping, or core gamers are now done with their shopping, and have free money to spend on themselves.

I think the sites number might be a little off, but a rousing third week in North America is not only possible, but there are great reasons for that to be the case. We have to wait and see the sales for this week. Massive Mass Effect sales during the third week could bear the numbers out for the charts.

Yep, we have very pleased at the response Mass Effect has recieved from critics and fans, and the sales of the game have reflected that.

Mass Effect has sold more than one million units worldwide in less than three weeks, making it the fastest selling RPG on Xbox and Xbox 360 and the fastest selling RPG on the current generation of video game consoles.

So to all those people who were a little concerned with Mass Effect's sales, or how it was marketed before release or anything along those lines, I'll just say that we're really happy with how things have gone so far.

Thanks to all you great ME fans out there. Keep it up. You know what makes a great holiday gift? Socks. But besides socks, Mass Effect is the next best thing.

Yeah I'm sure it will hit Japan and will sell 90 - 120 k.

Good for bioware, the game is great. Now deliver the DLC and ME2, bioware... pronto!

Thus far, Mass Effect is having some decent legs. It had a negligible drop in Europe last week, and is still doing well in the US. It's still managing 100k+ weeks. It could hit 1.5m+ before the end of Christmas.

2m+ is almost a lock. Hopefully, the DLC comes soon, and encourages people to keep buying.

IMO, Mass Effect could have Oblivion-like legs, and sell 5-10k/wk throughout alot of next year. Lets atleast hope so :)

Either way, this game will greatly outsell KOTOR 1.

Actually according to VG chartz this game has sold 968K in America+Europe.

You're in for a real treat. Mass Effect is one of only a handful of games that I beat and immediately started over again.

This time, 'pig is kickin' ass and takin' names. It's cool that BioWare let me punch somebody 10 minutes into the game. :D
