Forums - Sony - TSA: THE FIGHT LIGHTS OUT REVIEW

The problem I have with both the IGN review and the Video Gamer review is that they are full of inaccuracies and omissions. The TSA and the iWaggle reviews are streets ahead of both of them. Christ on a bike, the bloke from IGN even got the basics wrong. Every time he blocked punches the dozy twonk was incorrectly calibrating the controls lol, no wonder he was having control issues. And neither of those two supposedly professional reviewers made any mention at all of the online multiplayer. After reading those two reviews, which were the first ever to be seen, I had written the game off as a load of old bollocks - broken controls and no online multiplayer..? Forget it.

Luckily I saw someone provide a link to the iWaggle review and my opinion of the game (and of the two reviewers!) changed completely.

I'm still annoyed that we don't have any sort of detail on how the fights themselves are actually laid out. Is it just a last man standing affair with the two fighters trading punches, or is it split into rounds..? How does the game handle knockdowns and knockouts for both yourself and your opponent..? Can you get up once knocked down or is that it, goodnight Vienna..?

The quality of the gaming press during these last few years has gone right down the toilet as far as I'm concerned, and it's a shame.

So basically you only like positive reviews?

? I'm sure what he is saying is he likes 'accurate and complete' reviews

I know... I edited.

I totally agree with his stance.  Reviewers and gaming journalists in general are lazy, incompetent and sensationalist.  (exhibit A... hip-hop gamer)

He makes me laugh, for all the wrong reason. case in point, him playing the demo of Heavy Rain on the Move.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

It infuriates me tbh, how can two 'professional' reviewers get things so wrong and leave out so much and a non-professional, the iWaggle bloke, produce a more in-depth and informative review in just over 9 minutes..?!!? Until I saw that youtube video I had completely written off The Fight Lights Out as a load of old pants. If I had worked on that game I'd be going bloody mental...lol, a few people on the Eurogamer forums think I did because I've been voicing/typing my opinions so much!

I also can't understand how IGN can give Tumble just 3.5/10, The Fight Lights Out just 3/10 and then give Sonic Riders on the 360, which clearly shows around a half a second's worth of lag when the guy is doing the video review a 7.5/10. He didn't even mention it in the review at all!!! For a fast paced racing game that's a pretty big issue imo.

When I bought Move I was worried about all of the video demonstrations I'd seen from various shows and conferences this year still showing lag for both Move and Kinect titles, but was happy that the Sports Champions demo and by the looks of it The Fight Lights Out are lag-free. If Microsoft haven't sorted out the lag then there's no chance that I'm going anywhere near it for my 360, all my motion controlled gaming will be done on my Wii and PS3.

I'm still trying to remember which game it was that the publisher asked to be reviewed again as the reviewer completely got the controls wrong. I'm sure it was a Wii game, and it might have been IGN. I just can't remember now and it's doing my bloomin head in lol.

thesixthaxis are credible reviewers....  after all they gave FableIII 10/10 and Halo reach 10/10

But.. IGN (3) and VideoGamer (5) are also credible.  The game clearly has considerable issues.

The IGN review isnt credible because of the reviewer. Its exagerations and hating all the way. Maybe funny, but not something a credible reviewer would write. If none of those exagerations and hating attitude were there the review and it score would be much more credible. Here some examples of what im talking about:

"... an angry Trejo speaking as if he is passing a kidney stone..."

"Trejo teach you how to fight in an aggressively over-the-top way while waving hot pink and baby blue-lit PS Move controllers, makes it completely impossible to take seriously."

"These videos really are horrendously bad, recalling the days of the Sega CD at its very worst."

"After undertaking a laborious calibration process"

"You'd think that blocking would be as simple as holding your dukes up towards your face, but many times we would lose calibration and would have to hold the O button on the PS Move to calibrate the fighter in the right direction again."

"Unfortunately, this isn't the case. No matter how hard and fast you throw your punches, your on-screen counterpart moves with the speed and precision of a blindfolded senior citizen trying to whack a piñata."

Agreed, someone should do the slow motion thing you see in the IWatch video where you can see the delay in The Fight with Sonic Riders, i think people will be horrified when they compare the two.

Even worse though the group that wouldn't be bothered by the lag and the target group of the game would be the casuals, and IGN clearly states in the video review of Sonic Riders that it's casual unfriendly! How the hell can you give a game a 7.5 when it misses it's target audience completely?

It's now clear that the Fight does not play like an arcade game and so it should not be reviewed as a casual game. I think that if it had a better gym it could be a good fitness game: "Get Fit with Danny Trejo".

edit: Eurogamer -> 5.0

So let's see, there are now 4 reviews for the fight; a 7 (TSA), two 5's (Eurogamer and Videogamer) and a 3.(IGN)

It's best review is a 7 now and it's probably not going to get much better than that. Why are people still trying to defend this game?

5/10 average isn't... an abomination...

no it's the inconsistencies of the reviewers that we are bad mouthing, to me The fight deserves more than a 3/10, I will have to look at the eurogamer review to check out their response, thing is this game was improved to take out the pre-scripted movement imo it should have got a higher score, most people are probably just finding this game hard and then rating it down

Edit: the eurogamer review seems much fairer than the IGN review. Some people will still enjoy the game even though it's a 5/10, i man look at the TSA, he literally said he was havin too much fun and made his review late, so it clearly is still fun to play
