Forums - General - Is Obama A Keynesian?

Funny stuff. And remember: this is the smart side!

Around the Network

I gotta admit, I wasn't aware of what a keynesian is before I looked it up. If you had asked me on the street, though? I probably would've asked what it is, professing my ignorance on the subject.

I wouldn't have assumed that they were asserting he was not born in the US.

EDIT: Do they edit these types of videos so that only the 'interesting' responses are shown or are they showing everyone they asked about it? Like with the common knowledge videos asking seemingly simple questions, I wonder if they even ask the people who understand what a Keynesian is...

The BuShA owns all!

Oh haha that's funny.  Always funny when people love to talk about stuff they don't know shit about.  Even moreso when they are so positive they know what they are talking about that they really have no clue they are absolutely wrong haha.  Reminds me of numerous discussions on this forum.

Thanks for showing that.  Gave me quite a good laugh.  As for the smart side?  No unfortunately when it comes to politics and well the masses in this country (or really any country) there usually isn't a smart side.  One of the main reasons I like the idea that the masses should be as far away from the political process as possible.  Oh well.

hahaha.  Very funny.

And of course he is Keynesian.  Nothing wrong with that except the govt is suppose to save surplus money to be used during the lean years.

Nah, I'm fairly sure they don't use anything that isn't funny. I wouldn't want to take a guess at the ratio of informed to ignorant people, but there's no way that was everyone they asked.

At least the showed one dude who got it.

I admit I would've never gotten it, though.

Saved to favorites and given a thumbs up over YouTube.  This and the teabonics stuff has me wondering how clued in these people who protest are with the issues.  It is more like they are all upset and just go out.   This is a great catch, and a good call.  And the answer to the question is "Yes" as is many in Washington.  You do get Ron Paul and the Austrian school of economics that are opposed to it.  I say a problem with Washington is they became perpetual Keynesians regarding economics and thought you can keep running deficits.  I say the GOP side, when they talk tax cuts, and not speak on deficits, fall into this camp to. People abusing the Laufer curve also say this.  The belief you can cut taxes and it means you ALWAYS get more revenue (excluding economic growth) is a variant on Keynesian economics.  Again, the curve gets abused.

lol, reminds me why i have almost no faith left in the democratic process...

most of those people were plants. I was there following around that crew and they were patrolling the border of the circuit near where republicans were holding signs for the upcoming election on tuesday.

I watched people holding signs walk over to a large van and exit wearing costumes and stroll near to this interviewer guy.

So, I went a couple streets down and asked if I could have a sign, and then I walked back up to where the other group was, and just started chatting with them casually. One of the other guys there, Richard Cross from Detroit, told me that they were having some fun and asked me if I wanted to do one, but I chickened out, I just get shy in front of a camera. Anyway, me and Rich went and smoked a bowl, and then I joined the rally again.

I mean, I don't mind that they were doing it, it's kind of contrived, but whatever people do that kind of stuff.

Well... and that and the fact that there aren't really many Keynesian's anymore. (outside of government.)

New Keynesian's and Neo Keynesians sure....

However politicians always try and go back to the failed policies of the past.
