Forums - General - Which HDMI 1.4 cable should i buy? HELP!!!

Hello guys,

My HDMI cable is  in a bad condition so i was going to buy a new one.

then i am also considereing buying a 3DTV in Jan-Feb period so i was thinking of buying the the HDMI 1.4 cable which would be needed for 3D blu-ray playing

I know i can just buy the HDMI 1.3 cable and play 3D blu-ray on my PS3

but i will get a Blu-ray player free with the 3DTV so i want to buy the best cable to connect it.

I would also like to know,if the HDMI 1.4 cable is backward compatible.

eg: if i want to connect my old HDMI 1.3 TV monitor with my PS3,PC.will it work.

I have googled but didn't find any good HDMI 1.4 blu-ray cable. So please help me.

Another important thing,i would not like to buy  a cheap $5 as i have bought those before and the wear-off.Still if you don't get any good ones, you can post the cheap ones too

A HDMI 1.4 cable is fully backward compatible to HDMI 1.3. The only diffference is that two lines are now wired as a twisted pair ethernet wires (less noise problems). A good shielded HDMI 1.3 cable would very likely work as HDMI 1.4 cable without problems. If you don't use the ethernet thing, any good HDMI 1.3 cable is identical to a HDMI 1.4 cable.

PS How do you "wear down" a HDMI cable?

There is no HDMI 1.4 cable and those marketting it are just trying to fool you in to paying more. HDMI 1.4 cables are same as HDMI 1.3 cables. ITs the chips inside the TVs and Blirays that are different slightly.

Get any HDMI 1.3 b or c cable which 10.2 gbps bandwith and you're good.

Go to http://www.monoprice.com/. Their cables are pretty good and they are FAAAAR cheaper than anything you can get at best buy, walmart, etc. i got 4 6ft hdmi, 1 6ft hdmi/dvi cable and a 35foot svga cable for under 50 dollars. Their cables are kinda stiff tho but appear to be well built.

like one time one of my cable started corroding also the protection rubber starting coming off so the underneath wires got exposed and there was some distubance too

so i am going to buy my same cable that i already have

yeah the chips are different inside the TV and other devices but wouldn't the cable needed to be improved to carry more data.like if ethernet in hdmi starts getting used alot then new cables would need to come, won't they

Read what i wrote above. Google "Twisted pair cable" if you don't understand that part. As I wrote, if you cut open a real HDMI 1.4 cable you'd see two (already existing) lines are now  "wound up with one another". These are the lines the ethernet connection uses for noiseless high bandwidth data transmission. If you don't use the fancy ethernet stuff (in all likelihood >99% probability), you're all set with a good 1.3 cable.

I think you can use the 1.3 hdmi however i wanted to have the best so I got this Maestro hdmi 1.4 cable for my 3dTV and ps3 and a 2nd one for the 3d blu ray player I got for free.

I got ur point the first time, thats why i didn't reply on that part

My hdmi connector says hdmi 1.4 but on the cable it says hdmi 1.3> So is my cable actually 1.3 or 1.4?
