Oh, as for my cuisine rankings... (some may be forgotten)

1)American style BBQ/Pizza... I get a feeling not many people outside of the US have had a taste of really good US BBQ.  It's up there with anything.  Good reason to put Memphis on a must visit list for foreigners wanting to get a good USA expiernce.

Kids in the US love summer because of summer break from school.

Adults love it because it's grilling season... and it's REALLY hard to get a good accurate grilling represented in a restraunt.

2) Mexican

3) Chinese

4) Ethopian

5) Indian

6) Japanese

7) Spanish

8) Hawaian

9) Italian

10) English

11) Polish

12) Thai

13) German

14) Korean

15) French

16) Vietnese

Really been meaning to try Brazillian and Armenian lately but haven't had the budget for it.  Should mention i'm not a seafood guy,

Seriously.  Sometimes I feel like other cultures see it as lower or something, but I doubt they've tried the good stuff like you say.  N.A. FTW.

Go and discuss that with the Argenetinians and the Brazilians.

Generally, barbecue is grilled meat. Thats what the Neanderthals already did.

Big deal.

Only someone who hasn't had authentic Memphis barbeque would say something like this. It's amazing. KC is pretty damned great as well but I prefer rubs over sauces.

Yeah right "only someone who hasnt had real German roast pig would say that American barbecue is better or, by any means, anything special".

There you go. have fun with it.

First I thought maybe Asia. Then I went with the Gault Millau. So Europe it is.

Thank you El Bulli for making it so easy.

You've been to El Bulli???

Of course, I go there every day.

Joking aside, unfortunately I have not. I have visited some 3 star restaurants in Germany, and some who do molekular as well, but not been to the best restaurant in the world, which is in Spain, Europe.

Just makes the choice of where the best food in the world is much easier.

Asia and Europe, both continents have a rich history of cuisine :)

French food best food. Period.

We french people live to eat, while other eat to live.

Foie gras >>>> all

Well, in that case how in the world is the US no. 1 when it comes to obesity? You'd expect the French to be the really fat ones, considering they live to eat, to give wine to their children and to be rude to tourists.

They eat and then they fornicate all day. Makes you burn plenty of calories.

Americans just sit there and eat and....do nothing. Not even enough energy to make their children drunk or insult random bypassers. I tell you, Americans got no life.

LOL, my dad was obese, but once he went to Chicago at a medical congress and he was impressed, he felt almost slim. He used to eat a lot, but he said he saw people at any hour munching something from big bags. He even got stuck in a doorway with a policewoman larger than him and they both laughed heartily.    But he was also impressed by people's politeness, a thing that also my sister, that loves America a lot, likes about Americans (well, also in Italy, on average, people are quite polite, but we live in one of the grumpiest Italian regions, whenever we tour around other regions we feel pleasantly surprised in the same way).

And a little final dig to the French: the most marvelous way to prepare foie gras was invented by an Italian, nobody less than Gioacchino Rossini.    ...Hey, French kitchen is wonderful anyway, I love it!

I put North America, because I can get all the wonderful foods mentioned. Certainly a jack of all trades, master of none. We can get pretty decent italian, Mexican, Japanese, Korean, Brazillian, Greek, German, French, Indian and so on where I live....Which I don't think can be said about a lot of other places in the world. I could be wrong about that, but Columbus has a restaurant for every country, which makes it great.

If I had to go with a place based souly on what they actually make indigenously, I'd go with Asia. So many good foods.

You are. That's true for pretty much every major city in the world. London and Tokyo particularly, to name one each from Europe and Asia.

Your talking about two of the largest cities in the world.

I'm talking about Columbus, Ohio. Of course, you can get every major type of food in the largest cities in the world. But what I'm talking about is getting a good diversity of food in a town that is much smaller. My home town (13,000 people) has Italian, German, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, and a few others. Call me crazy, but I doubt you can find that kind of food in every small town in Japan or England. Or maybe I'm wrong.

Thats not true. My mom lives in a small german village 2000 people. And we have 5 different delievery services. One in this village and 4 around us. Plus various restaurants Greek Italian Turkish Chinese<--- Those are pretty much standard everywhere plus some American Fast Food chains. The delivery services offer Mexican Chinese Spanish Italian Serbian Greek and more. Its because Germany is densly populated and every 2-5 KM there is a town or village (South Germany, West Germany). I have yet to find places here where you cant have almost everything you like delivered.

BTW my experience tells me that in the west the standard is pretty much the same depending on how much people live in a certain area.

To Topic:

I would go for Europe because of the variety. Followed by Asian. Asia loses slightly because I can eat almost everything in all the European Countries but I had some hard time eating some of the Asian specialties.
