See this is how expectations change...

You will be impressed that the runaway market leader last gen has crawled into secoind place after 5 or 6 years on sale?   Most here, and many currently celebrating this recent adjustment - which still has it 3.9m behind, expected this within a year or so of the PS3 release.  

It will be an achievement of sorts yes... but impressivbe? hell no.

Yes. Most logical grown ups take changing variables and not only taper expectations but progress in mind sets. So, some people try to diminish what is happening currently in reality by bringing up last gen to bring down current successes. These folks are living in the past and not progressing through reality with the variables of business and life. While others remember the train wreck that was the first 2 years of the PS3's life and see whats happening now and can appreciate the realize the tremendous recovery that was made.

Its not "flip flopping" its not "damage control" its a real life discussion. What the PS3 has been able to do is amazing in any market. To go from DOA and the numbers in japan, the losses of the division etc. to now posting quarterly profits and selling stronger than ever after falling flat on its face for 2 years is absolutely wonderful. Im commenting on this because its this weeks numbers.

Now, if we had a thread, and i cared enough about the 360, i would be saying the same thing for its long term prospect an dpicture. Who would have though the 360 would have sold over 50 million and still chuggin along after the xbox1? Its amazing what MSFT was able to do and theyre a part of the PS3 falling on its face by giving consumers a viable alternative and marginlizing the PS2 success. Anyways, im getting off track.

In summery, the weakest argument in the year 2010-2011 is still trying to bring up the PS2 success to diminish what the PS3 is doing now. Its so petty and pointless. It was 5 years ago, give it a rest, times have changed, i understand you want to keep bringing it up because it justifies your disdain but realistically its not a solid case anymore. This generation is not last generation.

I really think you need time away from the forums. For someone who boasts about maturity and fairness, you haven't expressed much of that here. And as a staff member, I think you should express a little more restraint, but I guess that's just me.

And post what you want about me, it changes nothing. He posted a fair, intelligent piece and because you don't favor what he's on about, you choose to stray off topic about something completely irrelevant.

Dude, just like kowenicki you're way to sensitive about those comments.

Comments like "WOWWWWWW" "OMG!!!!" etc. have also been done when the 360 slim launched, so I don't see the problem here. Furthermore you take comments like "The next generation didn't begin till SONY said it begins, nex-gen has begun now!" too damn serious. You need to calm down, it's all just fun.

I don't want to defend every single post made by Sony fans in here, but most users definitely didn't act ridiculous.

And can you please tell me which reality CGI is ignoring?

This Sony squad rebuttal was to be expected. Well I guess it was easier for you guys to just ignore my whole point, you know the big picture I was referring to (that reality).

There is nothing wrong about celebrating, but sorry if I find some comments like ''I think I'm gonna shed a tear'' completely inflated. You would probably be the first to post comments like I did if we, Ninty or MS fans, would have thrown such ridiculous comments.

And if you want us to talk only about this gen....well guess what, Sony's still in third place and I won't celebrate that even if I could.

Every Sony fan in here didn't behave the way you claimed. In fact, I engaged a "realistic" conversation with you, which you ignored.

In regards to your last sentence, you're not telling anyone anything they didn't already know.

You're right. Many Sony fans don't engage in intelligent, fair conversations. Many Sony fans don't just celebrate the good without insulting another company/console/poster. Many Sony fans don't add anything positive or worthwhile to conversations.

Oddly enough, you exhibited the very behavior you called out in here. That's where this convo dies.

What i like about this is that the PS3 have sold 40 million consoles at a more expensive price than the Wii and the 360 sold at their lower price(s). Well not so much the Wii, but the PS3 is doing very well.
