I would also like to think that GT5 will be the game that takes the PS3 past the 360s sales, its only fitting since it the European flagship title.... however Microsoft still has one ace in the hole: Kinect and this is dangerous considering the Move is responsible for some of the recent hardware increases.
however i think that if the PS3 userbase increases to beyond the 360's before Fall next year, could we see Gears 3 go multiplatform???

Beyond doubtful. More like - not a chance. |
I dont see why not tbh, Mass Effect is, and Epic are no longer in a contract with Microsoft for the 3rd Gears. and i'm saying that if the userbase of the PS3 crosses the 360's before the release of Gears next year Epic could sell out MS.
i think theres a strong possibility of this since now we're also aware that there are a number of undertracked PS3 software sales in EEMEA. will Epic look at the numbers and decide they want a bigger piece of the pie?? many other developers have considered this dilema...

I'm not sure about that contract. I remeber in 08 is was reported the contract was up after the 2nd Gears, but money does still talk In other words, I'm sure Microsoft has it covered. With Mass Effect, after the first, it was never guaranteed to stay just 360/PC. Once EA got a hold of it, I had a feeling Mass Effect was moving to more than one console. |
Well i suppose we'll find out, like you said money talks, imo theres a good chance it will happen 'when' the userbase becomes PS3 larger, which i think will be before the end of next year.

Never doubt the power of the dark side....

Problem Microsoft have with Kinect is that the type of game will be more repetitive then Move or Wii and its a bit expensive (console plus kinect) for casual to grab before the problem is well known. I might very well be wrong but we will know soon enough.

Imagine if Sony can make these regions as Sony-centric as Japan or Europe? They've had a good start, and I've heard in LAtin america (or at least Brazil) they are really loved already. Apparently Kratos is very big in Brazil! And China...that's a monster waiting to erupt. Sony has to get in there. rofl It would more than negate a disadvantage in the U.S. |
I too always argued that emerging countries growing income issue. China, though, still officially bans consoles sales, despite being their biggest manufacturer in the world, under the three competitor's licenses, and it's one of the emerging countries that grow faster and it already has a very high number of rich people, so, once the ban is lifted, and MS, Sony and Nintendo are trying to persuade Chinese dictatorship government to that, every console will see a further sales surge only limited by manufacturing capacity. And again, PS2, if still produced, could be able to meet the purchasing power of the largest number of Chinese potential buyers before the others.
