is this real life?

I have to keep asking myself the same thing!

No. This. Is Inception.

The idea that PS3 is sellng more than 200k weekly is just that. An idea planted into our heads by the crafty Sony.

But wait! The idea of implanting this idea that PS3 is selling more than 200k weekly so that when we wake up and this is fake is just that. An idea that is a subset of an idea planted into our heads by the even craftier Microsoft.

But behold. The idea of implanting the subset of an idea that Wii is selling below par when it is actually selling more than 500k weekly! An idea that is born from the subset of an idea planted into our heads by the craftiest of the lot, Nintendo.

Now back to sleep...

I guess this is how Sony intends to ship 15M in FY2011. Its really naughty how they don't share their weekly sell-through data with us because obviously trusting Vgchartz sales to the week is a hit or miss affair some of the time.

Cheer up silly.  On the bright side, this place can look forward to going nuts at the end of every quarter! :D

But hey! I was right about the developing countries sales! Remember our talk?

Seriously.  You were indeed.  I noticed the inconsistencies, but for it to happen this many times, with the last one being such a big adjustment....damn.  And some people are saying that it needs to be adjusted slightly higher still....wtf.  Also PS2 needs a serious adjustment by the looks of things.  I mean, outshipping 360 in the first half of the year. REALLY?

Well, REALLY. You have to remember that a lot of countries are growing in affluence at a rate of 4-8% per year. That means huge potential growth as consoles like the PS2 suddenly become affordable because the games can be sold for local prices of $5-20USD. Suddenly in a lot of places $100 is affordable for a lot of people when a $299 PS3 can be seen as a premiere product for the upper middle class. Even still they can account for 10-20M potential PS3 owners minimum. Then in a couple of years that premiere product is $199 and those people who could only afford a PS2 can start to afford a PS3 and the sales take off once again.

In terms of price the: PS2 <<<<<<<<< PS3 are on the downward track.

In terms of money/disposable income these countries are increasing at a huge pace >>>>>>>> and eventually more and more people can afford either a PS2 or PS3 in these places. With such a young population in developing countries you've got a lot of potential gamers out there.

Tease.

Joeroc comes to mind....he was right

Just needed to say that

Wasn't he talking about the PS2, though?

He even talked about the ps3, he said numbers will have to be adjusted since PS3 is spreading into more and more new countries which are harder to track.

Sony has a real trump card with its penetrance into smaller markets.  Combined they seem like they can do some real damage.  Can't wait until China or Latin America gets its own spot with the other regions lol.

Imagine if Sony can make these regions as Sony-centric as Japan or Europe?  They've had a good start, and I've heard in LAtin america (or at least Brazil) they are really loved already.  Apparently Kratos is very big in Brazil! And China...that's a monster waiting to erupt. Sony has to get in there. rofl  It would more than negate a disadvantage in the U.S.

I think the real damage will come towards the end of the gen when the price of ps3 goes down to affordable prices ranges in those respective countries then BOOM!

Ahh...well, he was right on that. He still has said some bizarre things in the past. But that's another story.

That's why they gotta make use of their early penetrance and make these places loyal to Sony products if they can.

Pew pew pew

Brett adjusted the figures because he saw this guys (UK France Germany Spain 75-80% of European sales):

(1/0.75)*90,000 = European sales. Then you throw in the remaining Others regions and you get the PS3 adjustment roughly.

I remember Sony sayind they shipped 30k copies of GoW III here in Brazil a couple of months ago. The game was sold for R$199,00 each, or roughly U$120,00 lol. Taxes responds for 70% of the price of a single game here... -.-

Anyway, Sony is very strong here and pirated PS2 is one the main reasons. Now I'm seeing a lot of Brazilian buying PS3, which is kinda surprising because PS3 have no piracy basically, just so they can play online games for free (major point here) and play Sony's established and new IPs.
