Forums - Sony - dynasty warriors 7 + move + stereo 3d!!

In the early hours of this morning Koei Tecmo Games held a press conference in Japan with the ideal of revealing more details on the forthcoming Dynasty Warriors 7. Originally unveiled at the Tokyo Games Show back in September, little detail was offered on the game aside from the fact that, at the time, it was stated to be a PlayStation 3 exclusive. That may not be actually the case outside of Japan, but what is definitely certain is that Dynasty Warriors 7 has been built specifically to utilise the unique capabilities of the PlayStation 3 console.

Though a direct translation was not available, Electronic Theatre did manage to obtain many important details and snippets of information from the press conference. Having admitted that Dynasty Warriors 6 didn’t push the PlayStation 3 hardware to it’s fullest, the producer of the latest titles in the series, Akihiro Suzuki, stated that Dynasty Warriors 7 is being built from the ground-up with Sony’s platform in mind. Obviously an announcement designed entirely to please the Japanese audience, there was no confirmation that the game would be a PlayStation 3 exclusive internationally, just that it had been built with Sony’s hardware as the lead format. With that of course, came the confirmation that Dynasty Warriors 7 would support the host format’s stereoscopic 3D capability, both in online play and offline, running at a minimum of 30fps at all times. Additionally, Dynasty Warriors 7 will support the recently released PlayStation Move motion-controller, though in what capacity and to what extent it is not yet known.

With regards to the in-game action, the first two characters confirmed to appear were Cao Pi and Ling Tong. These two characters were utilised to showcase some of the new weapon system decisions, as well as the first stereoscopic 3D trailer for the game. With regards to the new weapon system, the biggest announcement comes in the form of being able to take two weapons into battle and switch between them on the fly. Sima Yi’s son was also confirmed as joining the roster, alongside Xing Cai.

In addition to the confirmed characters, an entire new faction will also be joining the series, though no information was available as to what differences this would bring to the series. And further to this, a special guest character was promised. No indication of who this special guest would be was offered, but of course the rumours currently circulating revolved around the upcoming Ninja Gaiden 3.

Few other discernable details were available, aside from the statement that Koei Tecmo games are aiming for a March 2011 release date in Japan. No European release has yet been confirmed, but is of course expected shortly, and Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest details.

That might be very tiring game if you are supposed to fight enemies using move ;)

What I read:

- Possible new kingdom *Jin*:  Successors of Wei.
- Their will be a new mode called Chronicles?  it is like the mission mode from GW2.
- Their are over 360 different Weapons.
- Looks to be improved...a little..
- Possible PS3 exclusive in Japan (will be huge?).

^ Again this is all the information I heard can't say it is 100% correct...

Sounds like it is going to have some very awesome features

i don't think i'll ever play this game with move, i'm a combo fanatic, but i'll defo buy it, i miss playing these types of games (thats why i like Sengoku and Fist of the northstar so much), plus in Split screen they're so much fun.

I live for the burn...and the sting of pleasure...
I live for the sword, the steel, and the gun...

- Wasteland - The Mission.

I really don't get why so many people hate on dynasty warriors? 3 & 4 are among my favourite games and it's good to hear that they are overhauling the graphics by building 7 from the ground up. I really hope they go back to the Final weapon system of 3 though where each character's final weapon had traits specific to them. Looking forward to this.

What a misinformed article. They actually mistook Bao Sanniang for Xing Cai (though as a new character, it's to be expected) and Sima Zhao for Cao Pi (even easier to understand). But mistaking Zhao Yun for Ling Tong? Seriously? Also, I thought Move support wasn't exactly confirmed yet, only rumored. And online? Maybe it's confirmed but I don't remember seeing it yet.

Anyway, looking forward to this game. It's probably the first Dynasty Warriors game I really have faith in. DW6 seemed promising but it didn't take long to see it didn't live up to expectations. This time, it seems, they're really trying to improve the series.

Really nice news! At Koei Warriors uk site says that a European released was confirmed to around march 2011 to. Same date that japanese release.

Finally they get back to their roots, I loved nr 3 and 4, they were awesome!

PS3 is the way for Japanese games! GO KOEI!
