So now you should also choose the best Ps3 game, MGS4......I will personally PM you MGS background story so you can enjoy it. I hope you will like this type of game and become a fan of this series!! (MGS1 is available on PSN).
then Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion (RPG) , Ratchet & clank : A Crack In Time (Platformer), valkyria chronicles (SRPG), Uncharted 2 (rent Uncharted 1) and Motorstorm : Pacific rift!
and of course you'll have LBP2 which we'll play online on a lot!

First 4 are awesome games.. the other two (gonna get flamed here) are decent I'm not a huge fan of hack and slash so that's why GoW3 isn't a must buy for me, but it is fun to play for short periods. MGS4 well, if you don't know the backstory of the previous games you will feel like you are watching a movie - tons of cutscenes.
Castle Crashers is also a good PSN game along with Limbo (or is that 360... confused)

I'll make sure he knows the back story if he decides to get it.
I've been able to condense the key points of the first 3 games into 10 pages on a word document....font size 5, just joking, font size 14.
