Right... being disappionted with a game that isn't out yet or reviewed is logical.

Dragon Age was great for everything except gameplay. You people bitch about them changing the fighting system and that was the worst thing about Dragon Age. I really enjoyed the story, chracters, atmosphere, but fighting was just so unbelievably boring. The new fighting system looks a lot more entertaining and will likely appeal more to the masses.

People complained about Mass Effect 2 becoming more shooter than RPG. But in the end its selling great and will surpass the sales of the original pretty soon.

Dragon Age Origins actually sold more first quarter it was out than ME or ME2 did in their first quarter so it really puzzles me when people say that DA needs to change to beat ME in sales when it already does.

Keep in mind that Origins outsold the original Mass Effect on consoles by about ~200k copies; but that's after combined PS3 and 360, of which Mass Effect only had one. Mass Effect pretty handily beat out Dragon Age on a by-platform basis, and Mass Effect 2 will beat it out in its totality when it launches on PS3 next year.

Of course I don't know anything baout the PC sales.

Are you adding up both Dragon Age on PS3/360 vs ME1 or ME2 just on 360?

All versions of both games. Yes ME lacks of PS3 version but I seriously doubt that it would change that over one and half million gap.

@Khuutra: I actually used shipment data instead of vgchartz as vgchartz lacks sales of PC version. Also not to discredit vgchartz numbers but it really seems that we have overtracked ME2 sales a lot. EA has 1.6 million shipped as may for both versions and we have 1.7 million sold for X360 version only.

So we are comparing shipped numbers of three platorms of Dragon Age vs sold numbers of Mass Effect 2?

Why not ? We get clearer image of the situation as we have also sales of PC version. Also like I edited in my earlier post it seems we have overtracked ME2 a lot.

Its actually pretty crowded considering how many people bought the first and are disappointed with the second.

Did you, and I'm not judging by any means, play it on console? Its very much a game that should be played top down on PC, and coupled with the changes to the console version I could see it being very boring on them. On PC there is a lot of strategy and a lot of tension in the battle system.

I played it for the 360 and PC.

You seem to think everyone bought it because of great strategic gameplay. In reality, people enjoyed the story telling. I mean most discussion about Dragon Age is in regard to the story. So I'm not surprised to see the series is going in direction that can appeal more to the masses.

Look at Fable. A much more popular game and its just a free roaming hack n' slash with witty dialogue.

Did I say DA2 wouldn't be more popular? It probably will be. But it will also be worse. And if people enjoy storytelling that much they should read a book, much cheaper.

I think a movie would be a better substitute because that is visual.

Also... movies and books aren't generally interactive. This is a stupid discussion. i hate talking to you.

Ok then they should play visual novels, its exactly what they want apparently.

Third platform would hardly change anything as DA:O shipped more than double compared to ME2 first quarter they were out. You just can't accept that your argument fails. By sales perspective there really isn't much reasons to change DA to be more like ME.
