Wow, the discrepency between NPD and Tretton's North America figure is enormous. Either Mexico has bought three times as many PS3's as Canada, NPD is a terrible tracking company or Tretton made a mistake/lied. Unless someone can think of another possibility?

My guess is people feel developing countries as well as SA, Latin America and mainland Europe, the latter of which trends heavily on Sonys favor, are generally difficult to track for sell through based on our resources, whereas Sony can easily report shipped which is where a lot of people believe the differences come from.

The only reason i dont think Leo isnt right is because i dont think Sony will have shipped 3 million, and i think they may be readying a GT5 bundle for America which will greatly boost their 15 million YTD between the bundles in EMEAA and Japan already announced, i think the final 2 quarters will be heavy on bundles which will push the PS3 past its target. Not necessarily a strong 2nd quarter.

His comment is so ambiguious it's not even funny, he'd never get bollocked for that statement "we have 20 million sold" it's obvious he's talking about Americas numbers as that's the region he manages/in ect. But if he's 3 mill off he won't get jacked because he can twist it into "I meant WW, we shipped more than 20 mill WW"

If Sony has that much on Americas for last quarters Microsoft will double them... Mexico is Xbox Land , U.S barely bu yPs3 and Canada go the same way... But well good numbers for sony i like them doing good means more competition and less wiis selling.

Maybe Jack Tretton will give us $1200 for every unit of PS3 he accidently over-quoted to have shipped in America?!

If Sony are at 38.1 mill shipped WW as of last shipment, and expect ooh lets be generous, 3 million this Q. that's 41.1 mill shipped WW.

We have Japan at 5.7 mill so 6 mill shipped there?

We have EMEAA at 17.5 mill there, wow by far it's most successful region so we always hear, so 19 mill shipped there

That's 25 mill shipped Japan and EMEAA. leaving 16.1 for Americas ....... or they simply shipped 6.9 million this Q ... actually that seems most likely.

I see SCEA do ship to South America, so 4 million PS3's (allowing 1.5 million for warehouses etc. across the entire continents) having shipped there but that is similarly hard to believe.

Yes those numbers indeed sound absurd. As long as VGC isnt undertracking, then its irrelevant. And ill say Seece, take my word on this this time, i dont believe we are undertracking by that much okay, i mean that okay, dont be paranoid.......im only saying correlating Sonys shipped to VGC only works if VGC is indeed gospel.
