i had alot of good gaming experiences with the ps2 more than any other console and the ps2 slim is really a technical marvel its so tiny and has very little intake and exhaust vents, i had to sell both my ps2 phat and slim back in 2007 to get a ps3 so i no longer have one but the 60gb PS3 that i bought back then does have B/C

how long will main stream retailers still sell these? i believe till 2012

I think they still will add PS2 B/C. But, I think they are going to wait till they fully discontinue support for the PS2 HW. My guess would be some time next fiscal year. Not sure if it would be SW emulation or maybe a new SKU. If it's a new SKU, then they probably would give a $50 cut to the current SKU's, while keeping the PS2 B/C model at $299.

Anyway, congrats Sony and PS2.

You know, the PS2 was quite an ugly console. But, I guess it's what's inside that counts. What was inside are some really good- maybe the best-gaming memories. Happy 10th birthday, big daddy!

Remeber when this console launched. I had a friend named Isaac that worked at Wal-Mart. I gave him the money to buy it. He wasn't a gamer but I assured him that this was a big deal! People are going to kill for one of these systems! He didn't take me seriously. He waited until time to go home and then tried to buy the console.

Bastard only came back with a copy of SSX. I read that manual 3000 times before I finally got my PS2 in March 2001. Still, when I got it, all of the heartbreak was forgiven.
