Forums - Microsoft - Should I get this Rod'd modded 360?

So I have this friend who's got a 360 - Falcon motherboard - no HDD.

It Rod'd once and he send it to repairs. He got the thing back working and he modded it to run pirated discs. It ROD'd again and he doesn't give shit about it anymore for many months now. He says I can have it for 70 bucks. The console is still in warranty.

While I don't like much the console, I'm not stupid, 70 bucks for a 360 is a great deal.

My question: How can I get it repaired using the warranty? The system is modded but I've heard about people who got their modded 360's repaired by Microsoft.

Your friend is a rip off.

I don't condone piracy.

You won't get it fixed with the warranty. You can try to fix it yourself and a good price for a rrod console without hdd is like 30-40$.

fix it yourself.

And yes just like Antabus said, a RROD 360 is usually sold for ~$40

40?

:s

But I'm serious when I say people with pirated system had them repaired.

Your loss if you decide to believe in that. 360 need to be opened if you want to mod it. It voids the warranty and you can be sure that they will notice it.

Yeah $70 is waaaaaaaaaaaaay to much for a RROD console with no HDD. You can buy a used working console with HDD with two controllers at Gamestop for $120. Probably pick one up on EBay for $100.

If he modded it he likely voided the warranty (which is why he didn't get it repaired, not because he doesn't care).

I wouldn't believe random stories you've heard unless you can see actual proof.  If he opened the case to mod the 360, the warranty is voided.

Also, research always helps.  Not only is your friend offering you a 360 you will have to pay to get fixed, he's overcharging you.  Get a new friend that isn't an asshole.
