You could get the anti-glare one for cheaper, also:

EDIT: Only $14 difference. Negligible, really.  Between the two models on this site, I mean.

I'm considering getting a Vizio HDTV, because I'm not interested in paying a 200-300 dollar premium on a Samsung television unless the additional cost really is totally worth it. Does anyone have one? Or can they link me to product reviews?

I've read great reviews all over the place and I've seen them in person repeatedly.  They are a quality set for the money.  Before all the Black Friday deals, Vizio was the least expensive set with a decent picture quality.

Let me add something about 1080P for just a second...  I purchased a 1080P set only because they were basically giving them away at sears.  I was literally a week or so from buying a 42" vizio 720P/1080i set when the Sears deal came out where I got a 42" Sharp (substituted for an LG) for under a grand...  I could have gotten a 46" sharp 720P/1080i for $949 on that same day.  I went back and forth... 1080P... 720P/1080i...  decisions ,decisions....  In the end I chose the 42" 1080p set over the 46" 1080i set for the same price because I planned to plug in a PC and wanted the full res.  In hindsight, I'm kicking myself -- a lot.  1080i/720p sets still give a phenomenal picture.  That is what all broadcast television is.  I wish I could go back and get the bigger set instead of 1080p because 1920x1080 is impossible to use without significantly modifying the desktop.

Before you jump into the Vizio, watch for other specials through the holidays as there will be more "super deals" on LCDs through year end... Don't rush...

What is your budget, BTW and what size are you considering?

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

Looking at the shipping policies of the three sellers, I think it might actually be worth your while to pay the little extra for the TH-50PX77U from Amazon themselves and take advantage of their guaranteed damage-free delivery, where they will also unpack it and place it where you want. The other two sellers only offer curbside delivery as their basic option.

I agree with everything GooseGaws said except that there were only 2 good Plasma brands. I find Samsung to be the best as far as reliability and price for quality. I've got 2 Samsung plasmas in my apartment (1 42" and 1 20") and I couldn't be happier with them. Also, plasma picture quality is overall much better than LCD unless you are in a room with a very excessive amount of sunlight.

@naznatips:

I was noticing that the Samsung reviews have become favorable. They must be improving their product as well.

One last question: I heard some time ago that Plasma TVs have their colors fade after 2-3 years. Is this still true?

As far as I know, Panasonic is still the only manufacturer that rates the half-life of their TVs, which is one of the reasons I prefer them. From their product FAQ:

"Panasonic plasma TVs have a projected life of 60,000 hours before they're only half as bright as when they were new. That's 20+ years at 7 hours a day (which is the average daily viewing time per U.S. household)."

Ugh, okay. WHY MUST THIS BE SO HARD.

If I want to stick to LCDs, then what are the best options? I can get a 1080p 47'' vizio for 1330. Seems like a good option.

The reviews for this television seem to be favorable:

Can anyone find this one for a low price? I see it for 1330 as the lowest thus far.

And THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR ALL THE HELP. Seriously, amazing. Thanks so much.

Seriously, I think plasma is the way to go. That 42" was only like $1050, if the price is the breaking point.
