Forums - Gaming - My Two Cents about New Vegas ...

okay I was defending New Vegas for a long time, but the more I play the more serious are the bugs.

and btw. I played the unpatched 360 version of Fallout 3 (around 50 hours) without one serious bug, so yeah New Vegas has a few more problems than Bethesda's entry.

I'm around 30 hours in and there are 2 quests I cannot complete because they're buggy and another 2 quests where I needed to search for alternative paths to finish them (also because of bugs).
I also noticed some serious slowdowns in the last 2 hours I played (I hope that was just a cache problem or so).

Had no crashes yet though.

Hmmmm.  Also playing the 360 version and not quite as far in as you (just leaving Boulder City, though I've done just about every side quest I could to this point):

  • three crashes that needed a system restart,
  • random slowdown throughout (not frequent, but annoying), and
  • weird Pip-Boy glitches (sometimes it comes up but only shows half of the pipboy, sometimes it acts like it sounds like it comes up, but never does, etc.)

These are not deal-breaking, but they do mar an otherwise enjoyable game.

In short I'd guess I'd say I'm not hating it, but it could be better without the technical issues.  Maybe they'll patch it soon.

yay just got my first crash after 37 hours and 43 minutes !

Luckily in the loading screen after I left a house, so just after the autosave

Yeah dude I totally agree it has some serious bugs. At first it wasn't that bad and I defended the game saying it was a minor issue. It still is a "minor" issue but it is very annoying.

Some annoying things I've seen:

- Load times can be anywhere from 20-30 seconds even if all you're doing is going into a small house

- Like you said framerate drops to like 1 frame per second

- Sometimes the game will freeze for like 10-15 seconds but start working again after

Since the update though I haven't had the game completely freeze (to the point i have to restart the console) or had any enemies stuck in the ground or flying though, so its an improvment.

Hopefully another update comes soon to fix the horrible framerate drops and partial freezing.

It is a great game once you get past the bugs though. I'm about 21 hours into it. I've beaten it once as a bad guy and I've started a new one where I'm being a good guy and doing more side quests.

Well, they do say that the only survivors after a nuclear war will be the bugs...

Possibly an in-joke?

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

Atmosphere is most important for me. Glad to know that the feeling's still there~

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

LOL Why is my post so screwed up.. now i have to do it all again? ...

Whatever

the only thing i wanted to tell:

- i also had some temporarily freezes, 2 times to be exact.

- i wont buy any Games from Bethesda when they come out Buggy as this one. (Except TES V^^) it was fun, but i think in 2010, with an Engine where several Games were made  with already (Oblivion / Fallout 3), and they were MUCH  more polished.

- Bethesda actually had some influence, they gave Obsidian the Engine, the License, and they published it, so the dev isnt a excuse.

Ok, now I am up to 35 hours... the main issue is the crashes. It had crashed about 5 times through the 1st 23 hours or so, but has crashed about 6 times in the 12 hours since then. I have the PC version... The catch is I never lose more than 2 minutes or so, it autosaves evertime I go through a door, or fast travel, and that is almost constantly. If I am very just roaming for the heck of it I save every 10 minutes or so, it takes maybe 10 seconds to save...

The issue is just an annoyance because I never lose data. Takes about 30 seconds to restart game.

Only other bugs I see are VERY minor. Like a creature being trapped in a rock, or a door being present when it is open (I walked straight throw a door once)

When a creature gets trapped in a rock you can 1. Ignore it, 2. Shot the part sticking out with Iron sights. No issue

The door thing was more of a WTF type thing no affect on the game.

Loading times have NEVER been more than 5 seconds for me. It is never an issue. (Running on and i7 QC 3GHZ, 1GB Video Card, 6 GB of ram.... might have something to do with it)
