This kind of deal shows me that no one should ever buy something on steam when it's not a special deal.

66% off sounds impressive. but seeing that the normal price is 49,99€ is ridiculous.

On amazon.de i can buy the retail copy for 25,88€ here in Germany.

Sure, the 66% off deal results in 17€ which is an insanely good deal, but how is the normal price of 50€ so late after the release justified?

I really like the steam service and I'm always looking forward to the "deal marathons" in the holiday season and midsummer, but I would never even consider buying a just released title on steam! I don't think any digital copy on steam has ever been less than the retail on amazon on the release day!

completely agree.

I'm getting my games from the UK so they're naturally cheaper than their German counterparts. Most of the time they're even just as cheap as in these Steam deals. Batman GOTY for example was available for 15 pounds a few weeks after the release.

In 99% of all cases the Steam price of a halfway modern game (everything between 1-4 years old ) in Germany is (much) more expensive than the price of any retailer.

Apart from these deal marathons as you call them (which are awesome, but they're also using many games over and over again), there is no reason to buy anything from Steam.

Not that amazing deal since Goty is pretty weak. I'd rather prefer normal edition for less.

I guess it just depends on where you live then. The regular price for the game is $39.99 in the USA. So this 66% off deal brings it down to $13.60, which is a pretty good deal. I may just pick it up myself.

GOTY edition just has 4 additional challenge maps it seems.

What's wrong with it?

That DLC is has included seems rather pointless for me.
