Forums - Sales - Why is Toy's R Us Having Nintendo Sales?

Yeah. I just saw that on the PS2 and PSP games as well. But when I was there I didn't know and the staff said the lineup was for the DS sale.

Generally, Toys R Us games here in BC are usually $5 to $10 (for newer games) more than Best Buy or Future Shop - so the deal is that not good. But if you don't know any better, then it's a good deal for the shopper I suppose.

And usually I am at TRU quite often as I have kids who like to go there.

I can answer this one!

Toys R Us has been bleeding video game market share for years, and the resurgance of Nintendo gives them a chance to put themselves back on the map. By offering great deals on Wii/DS games at such a critical time of year, they're trying to get people to associate great Wii/DS prices with Toys R Us.

In other words, they're hoping to increase their gaming market share long term.

From what I've seen, Toys R Us favors Nintendo. Possibly because Nintendo's products are more family friendly.

But I do agree with the guy above me.

Possibly it's to get consumers thinking of Toys R' Us for all their Nintendo purchases, now and in future. Also, with Christmas here, people will inevitably buy other stuff while in the store.

I use to buy games from toy's r us back in ele school.

also they know everyone wants DS and Wii junk, and deals WILL get people and the store, and if they come in and buy jimmy a DS, they may get Billy a bike and sally a doll house while they are at it.

Traditional Marketing Tech.

At this time of year Toys-R-Us is also probably trying to attract more foot traffic and they're (probably) counting on people walking in to buy a couple DS games and doing the majority of their Christmas toy shopping while they're in the store. The busy parent is probably going to try to make as few stops as possible when they're christmas shopping, and if Toys-R-Us can convince these parents to do their shopping at their store they will prevent toy sales from bleeding towards walmart.

Those kinds of sales are getting more systems sent to them from Nintendo, and TRU has been one of the few retailers to strongly support them through the years so they're getting rewarded for it.

Wow... That's a very cheap deal! I should ask my friend who lives in Canada to get me some games over there! o_o

I've always thought TRU was a big supporter of Nintendo myself, so I also agree with what DKII said.

Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Also, I just saw an in store ad at a Rogers Video whilst returning my kid's videos.

X360 Pro - 399.99 less 100.00 = 299.99 - Manager's Special.
The lady said it was for all Rogers outlets but I'm not sure.

If you live in Canada, you can check if it is true. But in the store that I went, they were all sold out.

Are you kidding me? You mean for the Elite (Pro?)?
