Forums - Gaming - Are gamers sexist: here is a test

As for the female protagonist thing, it's fine as long as she's not oversexualised and generally a jumping, battling prostitute. Which 90% of the time in today's games, she is.

well many say gamers and the entire games industry is sexist, either exlcuding women form being any where near a main character and when there is a women they are majority generalised.

But here is a test for you to see if you are sexist

Now there is a boy and his dad driving in a car. The car crashes and the dad dies on impact. The boy is rushed to hospital and is sent to the operating room. The doctor then said "I cant operate on him as he is my son"

Who is the doctor??

Post your answer, as gamers i fought to see how many would get this right and prove are gamers are hopefully not sexist

and when i heard this i got it wrong at first sadly :(

The doctor is clearly another father of his. Perhaps is parents are gay, or he is adopted. Otherwise, it would have to be some ridiculous trick question like... some sorta woman doctor.

Not a woman doctor. That's for sure.

We can figure this one out though. Maybe the doctor is a priest or step-father.

Also, not sure how this test shows whether or not gamers are sexist.

Perhaps you should have just asked the question and then put the sexism talk under some sorta spoiler tag.

I wouldnt say Im sexist, Its just that I find it hard to play as  female protagonist in games

For some reason I find it unbelievable when I do and it kills the game for me, kind of embarassing also.....

yeah me too, mirror edge is probably the only game i have ever played as a girl and fable 2 ( fable 2 for fun mirror cause im forced) i was interested in wet till i knew the protagonist was female and that goes for some other games, I am not sexist i just dont like playing as a girl.

Female soldiers obeying their male commanding officers is sexist. Gotta love the internet, and G4.

1) Not a soldier.

2) Doesn't have a commanding officer.

Forget facts, they're not needed to make snarky comments on the internet.

I never said she was a soldier, and she does, voluntarily ,take orders from that one dude. I was really just paraphrasing the logic behind the complaint.

Hopefully Obama will do the right thing and pass a bill stating that male physicians will be called "Doctor" and female physicians will be known as "Doctress" (or "Chick Doctor") to avoid any confusion in the future.

yes they are,to lazy to take your test. bye. lol

At first I thought it was all odd as his dad died, then duh, his mom popped in my head. Yes, its true that nearly anyone when they think of doctor would think of man and nurse woman, but that doesn't mean we're sexist, it means that for far too many decades that's just how it actually was. However, I bet my kids who grow up seeing plenty of both genders in both roles would not automatically think that way.
