Funny, you always seemed like a calm guy that takes things slowly and loves debates.

Well I am calm and I do enjoy debates when I can see that it is constructive.

But the creation/evolution debate is rarely that. I can think of two or three people who are willing to listen and offer well constructed rebuttals in those threads (as opposed to an automatic response), but for every person like that I find that ten who don't.

It's what happens when two sides are just so polarised against each other.

How about instead of retiring you go part-time?

Only debate with those you think will listen.

PS - I write the longest post ever and Im not responded. Come on. Debate me.

Yeah, i came to that conclusion a while ago.

I mean, I don't agree with, but I do get why people like Slimebeast don't agree with evolution... but there isn't really much that can be done about it unless you specifically have different samples controlled within an enviroment that would take a while.

It'd be a fun thing to do to try and induce evolution, but it'd be a project that'd take many lifetimes.

You're late, I made that decision ages ago. Too bad!

Above: still the best game of the year.

I did. But I suffer for the same thing Highway suffers. I NEED to debate.

I also find it quite stressful when I find myself debating with people who I know are very unlikely to change their mind.

Sorry, but I find this to hard to resist.

It's not a debate, really.  One side is right and the other is hogwash.  And a creationist is not going to have his mind changed, and the same is true in opposite.

So why waste your time?

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

Again debating is about winning no matter the cost. I remember watching  a jounalists years ago,  who was interviewing three different group of scientists ,commented that  the one thing he learn  that was common in every group was they all thought the other groups was a butch of idiots.

P.S like the video above, everyone thinks the other guy is the donkey.

The problem with those debates are that they start with two completely seperate presumptions.

Creationists start with the presumption that the Bible is correct and literal while people who believe in evolution generally start from a presumption that everything can be explained without invoking the supernatural. Those two viewpoints are simply impossible to reconcile.

This makes evolution/creation debates very near pointless. I realised this years ago and now only debate in them for amusement rather than having any genuine hope of actually convincing anybody.

I'd prefer to stay out of threads like those, however, as they are easily prone to becoming hotbeds, I have to watch them. (Mmm... banhammers...) Sure, I have my opinions, but I like to see when some people at least bring facts to the table, and not from a single source, as others have said.
